The Studio City house associated with The Brady Bunch sold for $3.2 million in 2023, after being listed for $5.5 million in May that year. The difference is $2.3 million—more than $2 million below the asking price.
What the sale price and asking price show
The $3.2 million sale price was $2.3 million less than the $5.5 million asking price. The Los Angeles Times’ March 2026 retrospective describes the gap as $2 million, apparently rounding; subtracting the reported transaction figures gives the more precise difference. Los Angeles Times

The gap is a comparison between one property’s asking price and its eventual sale price. The available reporting does not provide comparable-property analysis that would establish why the home sold for less or show that the difference reflects a broader Studio City market trend.
HGTV’s purchase and renovation
HGTV bought the property in 2018 for $3.5 million after a bidding war. It later renovated the home for the 2019 miniseries A Very Brady Renovation. The Los Angeles Times reported that the renovation cost $1.9 million and added 2,000 square feet. The finished house had more than 5,000 square feet, five bedrooms and five bathrooms. The renovation spending is separate from the property’s sale price. HGTV’s reported $1.9 million renovation budget should not be added to or treated as part of the $3.5 million purchase price when comparing the 2018 purchase with the 2023 sale.
Who bought the house?
Tina Trahan and her husband, Chris Elbrecht, bought the house in 2023. The Los Angeles Times describes Trahan as a historic-home enthusiast and reports that some Brady-themed furnishings, including a green floral couch, were included. The reported sale concerned the property and furnishings—not ownership of The Brady Bunch or its intellectual-property rights. Los Angeles Times
Where the house is—and what appeared on television
The property is in Studio City, Los Angeles. It supplied exterior shots of the Brady family home, but the sitcom’s interior scenes were filmed on a soundstage; the real house’s original interiors did not look like the sets. HGTV later rebuilt the interior to evoke the show for its renovation miniseries. Associated Press

Its 2026 historic designation
In March 2026, the Los Angeles City Council designated the property a Historic-Cultural Monument. The designation brings oversight and protections concerning demolition and alterations, but does not categorically prohibit demolition or renovation. The home is protected through a review process, not made untouchable. Associated Press
Adrian Scott Fine, president of the Los Angeles Conservancy, said, “If you watched the ‘Brady Bunch,’ you knew this house. People make a pilgrimage to see it.” Los Angeles Times
