EC Markets advertises a $10 minimum deposit for its STD and ECN live accounts. That figure does not apply to the broker’s PRO account, which requires $5,000. EC Markets also advertises a free demo account, although its current public website does not show the “Demo” button described in the broker’s older educational guide.
There is an important eligibility limitation: EC Markets says its services are not intended for residents of the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, or other jurisdictions where the service would be unlawful. The advertised deposit and demo-account features should therefore be treated as jurisdiction- and entity-dependent, not as an offer available to every reader.
EC Markets minimum deposit
EC Markets currently lists three live account types. The lowest advertised opening deposit is $10, but only for the STD and ECN accounts.
| Account | Minimum deposit | Commission | Spreads from |
|---|---|---|---|
| STD | $10 | $0 | 1.0 pips |
| ECN | $10 | $1.50 per lot per side | 0.0 pips |
| PRO | $5,000 | $0 | 0.0 pips |
EC Markets’ account comparison lists USD as the account currency, a minimum trade size of 0.01 lots, and MT4 and MT5 as the available trading platforms. It also lists market execution, maximum leverage of up to 1:1000, unlimited total orders and a maximum volume of 50 lots per open order.

In plain terms, it is inaccurate to say that every EC Markets account can be opened with $10. The correct description is:
- STD: $10 minimum deposit.
- ECN: $10 minimum deposit.
- PRO: $5,000 minimum deposit.
Is $10 enough to start trading?
A $10 minimum deposit is an account-opening requirement, not a promise that $10 will be enough to open a position. The required funds for a trade depend on the instrument, position size, leverage, spread and margin requirement.
For example, the stated 0.01-lot minimum trade size does not mean that every 0.01-lot position can be opened with a $10 balance. The platform may reject an order if the account does not have enough free margin. A spread or market movement can also reduce the available margin immediately after an order is opened.
EC Markets lists a 50% margin-call level and a 30% stop-out level in its account comparison. It also states that swap-free accounts are available on request and shows negative-balance protection as available. These conditions may vary according to the relevant EC Markets entity, jurisdiction, instrument or client classification, so the account terms should be checked during registration.

Leverage deserves particular caution. The broker advertises leverage of up to 1:1000, but high leverage can make a small account vulnerable to relatively small price movements. EC Markets’ legal materials warn that leveraged CFD trading can result in losses exceeding the initial deposit. A $10 account may satisfy the advertised minimum while leaving very little room for spread costs, price fluctuations or margin changes.

EC Markets presents its broad account-opening sequence as:
- Register
- Deposit
- Start Trading
The current website header uses Sign Up and Log In buttons. Selecting Sign Up opens a registration form with these fields and controls:
- Email Verification Code
- Get Email Verification Code
- New Password
- Repeat Password
- Residence
- Referral Code
- Register
The registration page also says that the service does not apply to residents of the UK, EU and USA. Your residence selection is therefore not a minor formality: it can determine whether you are eligible to continue.
Does EC Markets offer a demo account?
Yes. EC Markets advertises a free demo account for practice trading with virtual funds rather than real capital. Its demo-account guide describes the intended setup process as follows:
- Visit the EC Markets website and select Demo.
- Complete the registration form with your name, email and country.
- Choose MT4 or MT5 and select an account type.
- Set the virtual deposit, leverage and account currency.
- Download the trading platform and log in using the demo credentials.
However, the current public pages checked for this review show Sign Up and Log In, not a visible Demo button in the main navigation. The public registration form also shows a live-account registration flow and no obvious demo-account option.
That difference may mean the demo option is inside the Client Portal, restricted by region, or that the educational guide refers to an earlier version of the website. It would be misleading to give readers an unverified path such as “Sign Up → Demo Account.” If the public site does not display Demo, register or log in only through the official EC Markets website and look for the option inside the Client Portal, or contact the broker for the current route.

What happened to older EC Markets demo accounts?
EC Markets announced that it would permanently delete existing demo accounts during a demo-server upgrade on April 20, 2025. The notice said that demo-account data would be permanently deleted and could not be recovered. It also said users could create a replacement demo account through the Client Portal after the cleanup.
This is a practical failure mode for anyone returning to an old account. Demo credentials or trading history created before April 20, 2025 may no longer work or be available. If an old login fails, creating a new demo account through the Client Portal is more appropriate than repeatedly trying the old credentials.
How realistic is the EC Markets demo?
A demo account is useful for learning the MT4 or MT5 interface, testing order types and practising a trading plan without risking a cash balance. EC Markets says the demo uses virtual funds and real-time market prices.
It should not, however, be treated as an exact replica of live trading. EC Markets’ own guide acknowledges that demo trading does not adequately reproduce:
- Emotional reactions to real gains and losses.
- Slippage and execution during fast-moving markets.
- The psychological effects of trading real money.
The published material also does not establish that every live condition—such as liquidity, financing charges, execution quality or instrument availability—is identical on demo. A sensible test is to use the demo to understand the platform and mechanics, then review the live account’s contract specifications and margin requirements before depositing money.
Availability for US, UK and EU residents
EC Markets’ current website says its information is not intended for residents of the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union or jurisdictions where distribution or use would violate local law. The registration page repeats the exclusion of UK, EU and USA residents.

- Wide viewing angle: Get consistent views across a wide 178° /178° viewing angle.
- In-Plane Switching (IPS): See excellent color accuracy and consistency across wide viewing angles with In-plane Switching (IPS) technology.
- Ultra-thin bezels: Maximize your viewing experience with thin bezels.
That makes location a decisive issue in this review. A US reader should not interpret the $10 figure as an available brokerage offer. The same applies to readers in the UK and EU. Even where the public website can be viewed, the registration process may reject a residence selection or the applicable entity may impose different terms.
Before considering a deposit, check the legal entity named in the registration documents, whether the service is permitted where you live, the available funding and withdrawal methods, and the protections that apply to your account. Do not bypass a residence restriction by selecting a different country.
Bottom line on the minimum deposit and demo account
EC Markets’ lowest advertised live-account minimum is $10, applying to the STD and ECN accounts. The PRO account has a much higher $5,000 minimum. The $10 is not a recommended trading budget and does not guarantee that a position can be opened or maintained.
A free demo account is advertised, but the current public website does not visibly match the older instruction to click Demo. New users may need to find the feature after logging into the Client Portal. Older demo accounts should not be assumed to remain active because EC Markets announced their deletion on April 20, 2025.
For readers who are eligible in their jurisdiction, the demo is a reasonable way to learn the platform before risking money. It does not remove the risks of leveraged CFD trading, and it should not be used to infer that live execution, slippage and costs will be identical.

Can I trade with only $10 at EC Markets?
Not necessarily. The $10 figure is the advertised minimum deposit. Whether a trade can be opened depends on the instrument, leverage, position size, spread and required margin. A $10 balance may not provide enough free margin for every 0.01-lot trade.
Does EC Markets have a demo account?
Yes. EC Markets advertises a free demo account with virtual funds and support for MT4 or MT5. The current public website does not visibly show the Demo button described in its educational guide, so the option may be available through the Client Portal or a region-specific interface.
Were EC Markets demo accounts deleted?
EC Markets announced that existing demo accounts would be permanently deleted on April 20, 2025, during a demo-server upgrade. Users whose old credentials no longer work should create a replacement demo through the Client Portal.
Is EC Markets available to US residents?
The current EC Markets website and registration page say the service is not intended for residents of the United States. The same stated restriction applies to residents of the UK and EU. Eligibility depends on jurisdiction and the applicable EC Markets entity.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Does the EC Markets demo exactly match live trading?
No such guarantee is established by the broker’s published material. EC Markets says demo trading does not fully reproduce emotional pressure, slippage and execution during fast markets. Live costs, liquidity, financing and instrument availability may also differ.
The Bottom Line
EC Markets advertises a $10 minimum for STD and ECN accounts, not for every account. PRO requires $5,000. The broker also offers a free demo in principle, but its current public navigation does not clearly expose the Demo route and older demo accounts were deleted in April 2025. Check eligibility, current Client Portal instructions and live margin terms before depositing.
