CySEC Withdraws Centralspot Trading Ltd.’s Authorisation

CySEC suspended Centralspot Trading Ltd.’s CIF licence in November 2019, then recalled the suspension after the firm demonstrated compliance with capital and own-funds requirements. CySEC did not permanently withdraw Centralspot Trading Ltd.’s authorisation on 8 November 2019. Its decision published that day imposed a full suspension of CIF licence 238/14 after a Board decision on 7 November. The suspension was recalled 10 days later, on 18 November, after the company demonstrated compliance with capital and own-funds requirements.

The firm is no longer listed as a current Cypriot investment firm. CySEC’s former-firms register identifies it as Finteractive Ltd and shows licence 238/14 as “Voluntary Renunciation.”

What CySEC decided in November 2019

CySEC’s decision record is headed “withdrawal of authorisation,” which can make the event appear to have been a permanent licence cancellation. However, the decision’s classification and underlying document identify the action as a suspension of a CIF licence.

Date Event
7 November 2019 CySEC’s Board decided to suspend Centralspot Trading Ltd.’s CIF licence, number 238/14.
8 November 2019 CySEC published the suspension decision.
18 November 2019 CySEC’s Board decided to recall the suspension.
19 November 2019 CySEC published the recall decision.

The original CySEC decision record and its English decision PDF document the suspension. The later recall record and recall decision PDF confirm that the suspension did not remain in force.

Why the licence was suspended

CySEC said it suspected possible breaches of two provisions in Regulation (EU) No. 575/2013:

  1. Article 92(1), concerning the firm’s capital-adequacy ratio; and
  2. Article 93(1), concerning the firm’s own funds.

According to CySEC, the suspected non-compliance could seriously endanger clients’ interests and the orderly operation and integrity of the market. Centralspot was given 15 days to take steps towards compliance.

This was a regulatory intervention based on suspected capital and own-funds deficiencies. It should not be described as proof that client money was lost or that the firm had committed fraud; the cited CySEC decision does not make either finding.

What Centralspot could and could not do during the suspension

The suspension placed significant limits on the business. While it was in force, Centralspot was prohibited from:

There were limited protections for existing clients. Subject to their wishes, the firm could complete pending transactions for itself and its clients in line with client instructions. It could also return funds and financial instruments attributable to clients.

CySEC later lifted the suspension

CySEC’s 19 November notice says the Board recalled the suspension because Centralspot had satisfied the regulator that it complied with the requirements relating to its capital-adequacy ratio and own funds. The recall decision is dated 18 November 2019.

That sequence matters. Saying that CySEC “withdrew” the licence on 8 November suggests an irreversible action and omits the subsequent recall. A more accurate description is that CySEC suspended the licence on 7 November, published that action on 8 November, and recalled the suspension on 18 November.

What happened to Centralspot’s authorisation later

CySEC’s current Former Investment Firms (Cypriot) register lists the company as follows:

Current name in the record Finteractive Ltd
Previous name Centralspot Trading Ltd
Licence number 238/14
Licence status Voluntary Renunciation
Licence date 20 June 2014
Company registration number 325259
Approved domain shown www.fxvc.com/eu

The record appears in CySEC’s former-firms register rather than its current Cypriot investment-firms register. CySEC does not display a termination date for licence 238/14 on that record. Accordingly, the date of the voluntary renunciation should not be stated without another primary source confirming it.

The register also lists only www.fxvc.com/eu as the approved domain shown in the record. It does not list Opteck as an approved domain. Readers should therefore avoid treating historical brand references or websites as evidence of current CySEC authorisation.

Later settlement involving Finteractive Ltd

CySEC subsequently published a separate settlement concerning Finteractive Ltd. The Board decision was dated 14 March 2022 and the notice was published on 6 May 2022.

CySEC said the settlement concerned possible violations of the Investment Services and Activities and Regulated Markets Law, specifically an authorisation condition relating to CIF organisational requirements. The investigation covered the period from 1 August 2019 to 28 February 2021. Finteractive paid a settlement amount of €100,000, according to the regulator’s settlement decision.

This later settlement is separate from the November 2019 suspension and should not be presented as though it were the reason for that suspension. The 2019 decision referred to capital-adequacy and own-funds concerns; the 2022 settlement concerned possible organisational-requirement violations.

What this means for customers and investors

Anyone checking a broker or trading platform connected with Centralspot should distinguish between three different facts:

  1. The licence was temporarily suspended in November 2019.
  2. CySEC recalled that suspension after the company demonstrated compliance with the cited capital requirements.
  3. The former-firms register now identifies the firm as Finteractive Ltd and labels licence 238/14 “Voluntary Renunciation.”

A historic suspension being recalled does not establish that a firm is authorised today. Before sending money, check the firm’s legal name, licence number, and domain directly against the relevant regulator’s current register. Do not rely solely on a trading brand, an old approval claim, or a website’s own regulatory statement.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: The 8 November 2019 action was a temporary suspension, not a final withdrawal. CySEC recalled it on 18 November after Centralspot demonstrated compliance with the cited capital and own-funds rules. The former firm is now recorded as Finteractive Ltd, with licence 238/14 marked “Voluntary Renunciation.” Anyone considering a related trading service should verify its current legal entity, licence, and domain directly with CySEC rather than relying on historical claims.
