Mango’s 14 December 2024 announcement identified Andic as the company’s founder and non-executive chairman and said he had died in an accident that Saturday. The company’s statement did not specify where or how the accident happened. Mango Fashion Group’s announcement described the company as an international fashion group founded in Barcelona in 1984, with a presence in more than 120 markets.
The Associated Press reported that Andic was 71 and attributed the account that he died after a fall while hiking near Barcelona to Spain’s news agency EFE and other media. That reported account should not be mistaken for details supplied by Mango. The Associated Press report is the source for his age and for that attributed description of the accident.
What is known about the investigation
Later reporting described an unresolved case, not a final judicial finding about what happened. On 13 September 2026, El País reported that Andic’s son, Jonathan, was under investigation in connection with his father’s death, that evidence and judicial decisions remained pending, and that the case had no direct proof establishing what happened. El País’s report describes the status at that time.

In a report published on 18 September 2026, EFE said Jonathan Andic’s defense disputed allegations, denied his knowledge of or interest in simulated-fall therapies, and invoked his presumption-of-innocence rights. Those points are the defense’s stated position, not a court determination. EFE’s report covers that response.
