No blanket suspension is established. The headline refers to a December 6, 2024 report that Purolator and UPS had paused some shipments tendered by courier companies amid a surge of deliveries during the Canada Post strike. It does not say either carrier stopped accepting all parcels. That was a dated report, not confirmation of current service conditions.
What the December 2024 report said
CTV reported on December 6, 2024, that Purolator and UPS had paused shipments from some courier companies while they worked through delivery volume associated with the Canada Post strike. The report available here does not identify every affected courier, route, shipment type, or how long any pause lasted. It therefore cannot support a claim that either carrier suspended all shipments or service. CTV News’ December 6, 2024 report
What happened to Canada Post service afterward
Canada Post’s labour chronology says operations restarted on December 17, 2024, following a labour-board ruling, and that it began accepting mail and parcels on December 19. Canada Post reinstated on-time service guarantees and returned to full service levels for domestic parcels effective January 6, 2025. In a March 6, 2025 update, it said services across the country had returned to normal by mid-February, while noting winter storms had affected some areas. Canada Post’s labour discussion updates
There were further labour developments in 2025. On October 10, Canada Post said employees would return as CUPW moved from a national strike to rotating strikes. It warned that accumulated mail and parcels would take time to process and said service guarantees remained suspended. Canada Post also reported that CUPW had conducted more than 170 days of strike activity in the preceding year, including two national strikes. Those are dated 2025 statements, not evidence of service conditions in October 2026. Canada Post’s October 10, 2025 update

How to check whether your parcel can be sent now
For a shipment you need to send or receive, check the carrier’s live notices and the shipment’s tracking information rather than relying on a 2024 headline. The available Purolator and UPS alert pages do not establish whether the specific 2024 pause is still active; their notices can change, and the absence of a matching notice in a search result is not proof that no restrictions apply.
Before promising a delivery date, confirm that the carrier accepts your particular parcel and destination, review its estimated delivery window and tracking availability, and check whether an on-time guarantee applies. The cited material provides no comparative rates or transit-time testing, so it cannot show that one carrier is faster, cheaper, or more reliable than another.
