The documented feature was mainly built into Microsoft Edge: it could offer tracking for some purchases made in the browser or let you enter a shipment tracking number. As of 2026, Microsoft’s current shopping documentation does not clearly confirm that shipment tracking remains available.
What Microsoft actually launched
On June 29, 2023, Microsoft announced shopping tools across Bing and Edge, including Package Tracking. The announcement said Edge users could keep tabs on purchases from the browser’s sidebar. That launch grouped Microsoft’s shopping features together, which helps explain why the tracker was often described as a Bing feature. Microsoft’s 2023 announcement
The dedicated instructions, published July 18, 2023, described Package Tracking as an Edge feature and said it was available across the United States at that time. That historical statement does not establish availability in 2026. Microsoft’s Edge Package Tracking guide

- Edge shopping tools integrated shopping features into Microsoft’s browser; the documented package tracker belonged here.
- Copilot shopping is the newer shopping interface in Microsoft’s current documentation, which focuses on product discovery and price tracking rather than shipment tracking.
Searching Bing for a carrier and tracking number is different from having a centralized dashboard that persistently follows orders.

How Edge’s package tracker worked
Microsoft’s July 2023 guide described two ways to track a shipment. These are historical instructions, not confirmation that the controls are still present.
Enable tracking after checkout
- Make a purchase in Microsoft Edge.
- On the retailer’s order-confirmation page, look for an Edge pop-up offering package tracking.
- Turn on tracking if the prompt appears.
- Use Edge’s shopping tools to check updates for that tracked order.
This depended on the prompt appearing in a supported checkout flow. Microsoft did not promise that every retailer or order would trigger it.
Enter a tracking number manually
- Install Microsoft’s package-tracking extension if it is still available.
- Select the extension icon.
- Enter the shipment’s tracking number.
- View the package’s reported location or status.
The guide did not provide a current carrier-compatibility list, so support for a particular carrier or shipment type should not be assumed.

Why it did not track every order
The phrase “all your ordered packages” overstates what Microsoft documented. The feature could track eligible purchases surfaced in Edge or shipments for which a user entered a valid tracking number. Microsoft did not say Bing could access every retailer account or automatically find every order in a person’s email.

- A shipment cannot produce useful carrier updates until a tracking number is issued and recognized by the carrier.
- One order may be split into multiple packages, each with its own tracking number and scan history.
- International shipments, marketplace sellers, or third-party logistics providers may not work with a given tracker.
- A tracking tool reports shipment events; it does not redirect a package, arrange a hold, or resolve a lost-delivery claim.
For a Microsoft Store order, the retailer has a separate order-tracking process; it is not the same thing as Edge’s former shopping feature. Microsoft notes that items in one order may ship separately, with an individual tracking number for each shipment. Microsoft Store order tracking guidance
What changed as Microsoft moved shopping into Copilot
Microsoft’s current Edge support page says standalone shopping tools are being moved into Copilot in Edge. It lists features such as price comparison, price history, price tracking, cashback, reviews, and buying options, but does not list the former Package Tracking workflow. Microsoft’s Copilot shopping instructions likewise describe product discovery and price alerts. A “Track Price” control follows a product’s price, not a parcel’s route to your door. The careful conclusion is that Microsoft’s package tracker is historically verified, but current Microsoft documentation does not clearly confirm whether shipment tracking remains available, has been replaced, or is still accessible to some users.
What to try in Edge in 2026
If you want to check whether a Microsoft shipment-tracking option appears for you, try these steps without assuming the old feature is still supported:

- Update Microsoft Edge to its latest available version.
- Sign in with a personal Microsoft account if you use personalized shopping features.
- Open the Edge sidebar and check Copilot for shopping controls.
- Visit the retailer’s product or order-confirmation page and look for a shopping, delivery, or package-tracking option.
- If there is no shipment-tracking control, copy the tracking number from the retailer and use the carrier’s official tracking page.
- For delivery alerts or delivery-management options, check the carrier’s own notification service.
Microsoft’s current Edge guidance notes that Copilot shopping features may require an up-to-date browser, a signed-in Microsoft account, enabled shopping settings, and a supported region. Those requirements concern current shopping features; they do not establish that package tracking is available.

Microsoft points customers toward carrier-operated services such as UPS My Choice, FedEx Delivery Manager, and USPS Informed Delivery for delivery alerts and management options. Troubleshoot common tracking problems
No tracking prompt appears
The retailer or checkout may not support the prompt, the feature may not be available in your region, Edge may be out of date, shopping settings may be disabled, or the old workflow may have changed. Check for browser updates and sign-in, then use the retailer or carrier site if no tracking option appears.

The tracking number is rejected or has no updates
- Copy the number directly from the retailer’s shipping message and check for typing errors.
- Confirm that you are using the correct carrier’s tracking page.
- If a label was just created, wait for the first carrier scan; a number may not show movement immediately.
- Ask the retailer whether the order was split or assigned to a different logistics provider.
The status says delivered, but the package is missing
- Check the delivery address and look around the property.
- Ask household members, building staff, or neighbors whether they accepted it.
- Contact the carrier with the tracking number.
- If the carrier cannot resolve the issue, contact the retailer or seller.

Privacy and reliability considerations
Order tracking can involve retailer, order, shipping, or browser-context information. The available feature descriptions do not establish exactly what information Microsoft collected for each tracking path, so do not assume the tracker scanned an entire email inbox. Review privacy and connected-experience settings separately for Edge, Copilot, the retailer, and the carrier.
A third-party tracker can be convenient, but the carrier’s own record is the more appropriate place to check when scan histories disagree or a shipment needs intervention. Retailers remain the right contact for order changes, returns, and seller disputes.
