Does the sale discount a BJ’s membership?
No membership signup discount is stated in the birthday-sale announcement. The 42% promotion applies to selected merchandise for members. BJ’s currently lists the following annual fees, plus tax where applicable; the signup prices are shown with Easy Renewal.

Both memberships include one household membership. BJ’s says memberships generally last 12 months. Fees and benefits can change, so confirm the current terms on the official membership page before enrolling.
Is Club+ worth the extra $60?
Club+ costs $60 more per year at the currently listed fees. Compare that difference with benefits you expect to use—not with the maximum advertised reward. Only eligible BJ’s purchases earn the 2% reward; gas, membership fees, and fulfillment fees do not. Rewards are capped at $500 per membership year.

- Eligible spending: Estimate your annual eligible BJ’s purchases. At a 2% reward rate, $3,000 in eligible spending would generate $60 in rewards, before considering the cap and any restrictions. This is a simple break-even illustration, not a guarantee; only eligible purchases count.
- Fuel: Consider whether the additional 5¢-per-gallon discount will matter for your actual BJ’s Gas purchases.
- Delivery: Include the value of the two free same-day deliveries only if you expect to place qualifying orders of at least $50 and can use the service where you live.
- Timing: Benefits have value only if you can use them during the membership year. Do not count delivery or fuel savings you are unlikely to claim.
If the rewards and benefits you realistically expect do not offset the $60 difference, Club is the lower-cost choice. The sale itself does not establish that joining will save a particular amount: the featured items, local prices, and your shopping needs determine whether the promotion is useful to you.
What to know about Easy Renewal and cancellation
Enrollment in Easy Renewal authorizes a recurring charge at the then-current membership fee, plus applicable tax, beginning on the first day of the month the membership expires. Can you get a special membership discount?
BJ’s advertises special membership discounts for groups including military personnel, educators, medical professionals, people using government assistance, first responders, government employees, and college students. Eligibility, discount amount, and terms depend on the offer. Check BJ’s official membership discount information rather than assuming a category automatically qualifies.

How large is BJ’s membership base?
BJ’s reported more than 8.5 million members, 267 clubs, and 208 gas stations across 22 states in a September 22, 2026 announcement. Those are company-reported scale figures; they do not show that a particular sale item is cheaper than an alternative. BJ’s Executive Vice President and Chief Growth Officer Tim Morningstar described saving members money as a company purpose, but that promotional statement is not independent evidence of an item’s value.
