At the South Korean Ministry of Finance and Economy’s October 7, 2026 closing rate of ₩1,340.4 per US$1, convert won to dollars by dividing the won amount by 1,340.4. For example, ₩134,040 is about US$100 before any customer-rate difference or fees. This dated reference figure is not a live quote or a guaranteed transaction rate.

How to convert KRW to USD

KRW is the currency code for the South Korean won, and USD is the code for the US dollar. The quote ₩1,340.4 per US$1 means one dollar corresponds to 1,340.4 won.

Use this formula:

USD amount = KRW amount ÷ KRW-per-USD rate

Using the Ministry of Finance and Economy’s October 7, 2026 closing rate of 1,340.4 KRW per USD, these example conversions are estimates calculated from that quote, before customer-rate differences or fees:

South Korean won Estimated US dollars
₩50,000 About US$37.30
₩134,040 About US$100.00
₩1,000,000 About US$746.05

For the reverse estimate, multiply a dollar amount by the KRW-per-USD rate. At the same dated quote, US$100 corresponds to about ₩134,040. The result is still an estimate, not a promise of the amount a bank or exchange service will provide.

Which KRW-to-USD rate should you use?

Official closing quote

The Ministry of Finance and Economy, Republic of Korea, reported a closing rate of 1,340.4 KRW per USD on October 7, 2026. It is useful as a dated reference for an estimate, but exchange rates change; check the date and obtain a current customer quote before making a transaction. Monthly average

The Federal Reserve Board reported an August 2026 monthly average of 1,403.2186 KRW per USD. Its monthly averages are based on daily noon buying rates for cable transfers in New York City, certified for customs purposes by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. This is a period average, not a same-day quote comparable to the Ministry’s October 7 closing rate. Federal Reserve: Foreign Exchange Rates.

Bank reference and customer rates

The Bank of Korea says each foreign exchange bank independently decides its customer rates and revises them with reference to movements in the interbank spot exchange rate. It describes the basic won-dollar market-average rate as a transaction-volume-weighted average of rates applied in the previous business day’s transactions between foreign exchange banks through brokers. The Bank of Korea calculates and provides its basic rates against the US dollar and other currencies once daily; they are usually used as references for taxation, accounting, statistics, and similar purposes. What you will receive in a transfer or cash exchange

For an actual exchange or transfer, compare the provider’s customer rate, any fees shown before confirmation, and the final USD amount delivered.
