Gina Carano and Disney’s Lucasfilm reached an agreement resolving her lawsuit over her removal from The Mandalorian. The reported settlement terms were not disclosed. The parties asked the court to dismiss the case with prejudice, but the Associated Press said a judge still needed to formally dismiss it when it reported the agreement.
What was settled?
Lucasfilm and its parent company, The Walt Disney Company, announced an agreement with Carano to resolve her pending lawsuit. The terms were not made public in the reporting reviewed by the Associated Press. That means the available reporting does not establish whether either side paid money, admitted fault, or agreed to any other specific condition.
The parties stipulated to dismissal with prejudice. The Associated Press explained that this means the case cannot be refiled. Its report said formal dismissal by a judge was still pending at that time; no later docket status is established here. The case was filed in California federal court as Carano v. Disney, No. 2:24-cv-01009. AP’s settlement report describes the requested dismissal.
Why did Gina Carano sue Disney?
Carano filed the lawsuit in 2024 after Lucasfilm removed her from The Mandalorian. She alleged wrongful termination and discrimination related to her social-media posts. Those were allegations made in her lawsuit, not findings of fact established by the settlement. The lawsuit coverage describes the claims.

- The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords are scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they enlist the help of Mandalorian Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu. Some flashing lights sequences or patterns may affect photosensitive viewers.
Carano played Cara Dune in the series’ first two seasons, according to a 2024 court order. The court order identifies her role and its seasons.
Does the settlement mean Carano will return to Star Wars?
No specific return has been announced. Lucasfilm said it looked forward to identifying opportunities to work with Carano in the future, but that statement does not confirm a project, casting decision, or contractual commitment.

Lucasfilm also said Carano had been respected by directors, co-stars, and staff and had treated colleagues with kindness and respect. These are the company’s statements, not judicial findings. The Associated Press reported the remarks and did not identify a named individual speaker. Read the reported Lucasfilm statement.
