The reported recall of Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake & Waffle Mix began in January 2025; the FDA classified it as Class I on February 13, 2025. What product was reported recalled?
Forbes reported that Quaker voluntarily recalled 10,000 cartons of Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake & Waffle Mix, in 32-ounce (2-pound) packages. The recall reportedly began January 14, 2025. The report said the product was distributed in 11 states and named Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin as examples; it did not provide a complete state list.
Forbes reported undeclared milk as the reason for the recall. People with a milk allergy should not consume a product they suspect is affected. The Forbes report does not list complete lot codes or other package-level identifiers, so use the FDA’s current notice to determine whether a particular carton is included.
Why did the FDA assign a Class I classification?
Forbes reported that the FDA classified the recall as Class I on February 13, 2025. Class I is the FDA’s most serious recall classification: it applies when there is a reasonable probability that exposure to a product could cause serious health consequences or death. The classification describes the potential severity of the hazard; it does not mean that every carton caused harm or that a particular consumer has been injured.

What should you do if you have this mix?
- Do not eat it if you have a milk allergy and believe the carton may be part of the recall.
- Compare the package with the FDA’s current notice. Use its product description and identifiers rather than relying only on the brand name; the Forbes report does not contain full lot-code details.
- Follow the notice’s instructions for handling, disposal, or any other remedy. Do not assume the recall is still active—or that it has ended—without checking the current FDA listing.
- If someone with a milk allergy has eaten the product and is having symptoms, seek appropriate medical help promptly.

In its February 17, 2025 report, Forbes gave January 14, 2025 as the recall start date and February 13, 2025 as the date of the FDA’s Class I classification.
