Set one or two Bitcoin price alerts around prices that would change your next decision, choose only the notification channels you need, and use a one-time trigger or expiry when the service offers it. A price alert is a notification—not a trade order—and its setup and delivery controls vary by platform.
What a Bitcoin price alert does—and does not do
A price alert notifies you when Bitcoin reaches a chosen price condition. It does not buy or sell Bitcoin for you. Coinbase states that its price alerts “are only notifications that an asset has reached a certain price” and “do not place an order for that asset” (Coinbase Help).
Use an alert as a prompt to review the market or your plan, not as a guarantee that you will see or act on a message at a particular time. An alert does not itself execute a transaction.
Set a Bitcoin alert on Coinbase mobile
- Search for and select Bitcoin.
- Tap the star icon to add Bitcoin to your watchlist. Coinbase says an asset must be watchlisted for its price alerts to send.
- Tap the bell-plus icon, choose Add Alert, select whether the alert should trigger above or below a target, enter the price, and save.
- To control delivery, open Account & Settings > Notification Settings. For predetermined alerts, choose Price Alerts and set the alert frequency. For custom alerts, choose Custom Alerts. Turn push, in-app, and email notifications on or off as needed.
- To remove an alert, open the relevant Price Alerts or Custom Alerts section and use the three-dot menu.
Coinbase describes price alerts as informational, not investment advice. Its notification settings also note that some important account or security alerts may still be sent even when other notification types are disabled (Manage notifications).

Set an alert on Kraken
On the web
- Open the Alerts widget and allow browser notifications if you want alerts delivered through the browser.
- Create an alert, choose the market and trigger parameters, then enter a price or use percentage adjustments.
In the Kraken app
- Allow push notifications both in your device settings and in the Kraken app.
- Open the alert modal from the bell in Markets, or long-tap a market or open order.
- Set the trigger and save. Review active and historical alerts from the alerts area; active alerts can be edited or deleted.
Kraken’s support page, updated January 20, 2026, says Futures alerts cannot currently be created in the app. A Futures alert created on the web can still reach a phone if mobile price-alert pushes are enabled, though the notification may not open the correct market page. Kraken Desktop documents syncing alerts across Kraken Pro and mobile apps (Kraken Market Alerts).
Set an alert in TradingView
- Open Supercharts and select the BTC symbol you want to monitor.
- Create an alert from the toolbar, Alert manager, chart context menu, price scale, or keyboard shortcut.
- Choose the condition, trigger frequency, and delivery actions. The documented delivery choices include app notifications, pop-ups, email, webhooks, sound, and plain text.
- Set an expiration date. For fewer repeat messages, select Only once when that trigger choice is available.
TradingView also documents trigger options for every time, once per bar close, or once per minute. Its alert introduction says standard alerts last a maximum of two months; Premium and Ultimate plans offer an open-ended option. Confirm the choices shown in your account, since available controls depend on the product and plan (alert configuration; setting up alerts; TradingView alerts introduction).

These feature differences do not establish a universally best service. Choose based on where you want to set the alert, how it should trigger, how you want to receive it, and how easily you can retire it.

Reduce notification overload without missing the point
- Set alerts tied to a decision. Choose a price condition only if reaching it would make you revisit a plan or take another specific step. There is no documented universally optimal alert count or threshold.
- Start with one delivery channel. Add another only when it serves a clear purpose rather than duplicating the same interruption.
- Limit repeat alerts. Use an only-once trigger or expiration where available; otherwise choose the least frequent setting that still suits your purpose.
- Review the active list. Remove alerts that no longer match your goal. Kraken offers active and historical lists and edit/delete controls; Coinbase provides deletion through notification settings.
- Keep market alerts separate from security alerts. Disabling market notifications may not disable important account or security messages.
- Check device permissions as well as app settings. Browser permission is required for Kraken web notifications, and Kraken mobile pushes require permission at both device and app level. Notification preferences cannot guarantee that every interruption will be suppressed.
