Hiive raised $4.2 million in a funding round reported on October 17, 2023, to support its marketplace for buying and selling shares in privately held, venture-backed companies. The company said the round valued it at $77 million post-money. Both figures describe that 2023 financing, not Hiive’s current valuation or funding status.
What Hiive’s $4.2 million raise covered
GeekWire reported the raise on October 17, 2023, and Hiive’s announcement also described the $4.2 million round. Hiive said the financing was at a $77 million post-money valuation. That is the company-reported valuation after the round, at the time; it should not be read as a current valuation. GeekWire’s October 2023 report and Hiive’s funding announcement provide the dated figures.
GeekWire reported that Uncorrelated Ventures led the round, with participation from Splash Capital, Harmony Venture Partners, Hack VC, Agmen Capital and Renaud Laplanche. Hiive’s announcement also named the institutional investors.
How Hiive’s private-share marketplace worked
Hiive described an online secondary marketplace where qualified investors could place buy or sell orders for shares in late-stage private companies and transact directly with another party. It was aimed in part at existing shareholders, including employees, seeking a potential way to sell before a company went public or reached another liquidity event. A marketplace listing is not itself a promise that a sale will happen.

Private-company shares come with transfer limits
Private shares are not generally traded like publicly listed stock. Whether a buyer can participate and whether a seller can complete a transfer may depend on investor eligibility, the company’s restrictions, and required approvals. Hiive’s current company materials say access is limited to eligible investors and that transactions are subject to applicable transfer restrictions and approvals. A displayed price or an order therefore does not guarantee availability, approval, or a completed transaction. Hiive’s current website describes the present service and its restrictions.

Hiive is now branded Clarity
Hiive’s current website uses the Clarity brand. This is a present-day identity change; the $4.2 million financing and platform figures above remain historical Hiive information. The company’s current seller and investor pages describe features such as reviewing market activity and pricing, connecting with counterparties, placing orders and receiving transaction support. Hiive says sellers can remain anonymous until they choose to connect. These are company descriptions, not independent evidence of transaction performance. See the seller information and investor information.
Hiive says it does not provide investment, financial, legal or tax advice and recommends seeking independent advice. Anyone considering a private-share transaction should assess eligibility, transfer terms, fees and the recency and source of displayed pricing before proceeding; the available company pages do not establish a complete comparable fee schedule.
