Compare streaming services by starting with the shows, films, sports, and franchises your household actually watches, then check each service’s current price, simultaneous-stream limit, ads, video quality, downloads, and account-sharing rules. A bundle is worthwhile only if you want the included services and accept their separate features and terms. The examples below are from official U.S. pages checked October 7, 2026; prices, promotions, catalogs, and plan rules can change, so confirm current terms before subscribing.
Start with what your household wants to watch
There is no useful universal winner when catalogs are not measured against the same inventory. Make a short list of the specific shows, films, genres, franchises, sports, or live programming your household cares about. Then check whether each is currently available on the service in your region. A service’s brand or broad genre label is not a substitute for confirming the titles.
For example, Disney’s U.S. plans page describes Disney+ content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic. Its bundles also include Hulu, FX, and ESPN-related offerings. That gives you examples to check against your list, not proof that every title or live event you want is included. Catalogs and platform availability can vary by region.
Compare the full price and renewal terms
Compare the plan you would actually keep, not only a discounted introductory rate. Record the monthly or annual billing period, whether the tier includes ads, any promotion’s duration, and the price after it ends. Keep standalone subscriptions separate from bundles so that the comparison reflects what you would pay for the services you want.

These are U.S. prices and plan details listed on the providers’ official pages checked October 7, 2026. Promotions, taxes, package billing, eligibility, and plan terms may affect what you pay. The providers’ pages do not establish a comparable catalog or household statistic across services, so the figures should not be treated as a ranking of overall value.
Check how the plan works for your household
Simultaneous streams mean devices watching at the same time; they are not the same as the number of profiles or people who can use an account. Also check account-sharing rules and whether additional members are allowed, since those rules can change whether a plan suits a household spread across locations.

Netflix
Netflix’s U.S. Help Center lists two supported devices at once for Standard with ads and Standard, and four for Premium. Standard with ads and Standard list 1080p video and downloads on two supported devices; Premium lists 4K Ultra HD with HDR and downloads on six. Standard can add one extra member, while Premium can add up to two. Netflix defines its household around devices connected to the internet at the main residence and says accounts cannot be shared outside that household. Package billing and eligibility may differ.
HBO Max
HBO Max lists two simultaneous devices for Basic with Ads and Standard, and four for Premium, with a two-device limit for sports on Premium. Basic and Standard offer 1080p; Premium offers 4K where available and Dolby Atmos where available. Live sports are included with Standard and Premium, with selected MLB, NHL, NCAA Men’s March Madness, U.S. Soccer, and cycling events named on the U.S. Help Center page. These are selected events, not a claim that all games or leagues are included.

Compare viewing features, not just the catalog
Two tiers may include access to the same service catalog while differing in how you can watch. Decide what matters to your household and compare those details directly:
- Ads: Decide whether an ad-supported tier is acceptable. A no-ads label may not mean every live or linear program is ad-free; Disney’s no-ads bundle notes ads in select live and linear content.
- Picture and sound: Check resolution and formats such as HDR or Dolby Atmos, including whether they are included only on a higher tier and whether availability is qualified.
- Downloads: Compare how many supported devices may hold downloads and check service-specific restrictions. Disney’s bundle page says download restrictions vary by service.
- Concurrent viewing: Count how many screens need to play at once, including any sports-specific cap.
- Sharing and eligibility: Read the provider’s household definition and any limits on extra members before treating a plan as shareable across residences.
Evaluate bundles against separate subscriptions
A bundle simplifies payment for multiple services, but it does not make their catalogs, apps, or rules identical. Disney says bundled services are accessed separately and that availability and features can vary. Compare the bundle’s total ongoing price with the separate subscriptions you would otherwise buy, but count only services your household genuinely wants. A bundle is not automatically a saving if you would not pay for every included service on its own.

For a useful comparison, note which subscriptions are included, whether they are watched in separate apps, the renewal price after any introductory period, and whether a desired tier or feature is actually part of the package. Confirm each provider’s current terms before enrollment.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A practical way to choose
- List your priorities: Write down the few titles, genres, franchises, sports, or live programs your household watches most.
- Check the current regional catalog: Confirm the specific titles are available in your country rather than inferring availability from a brand or bundle name.
- Set household requirements: Decide how many streams must run at once and whether you need downloads, a particular picture quality, fewer ads, or access for people outside the main residence.
- Choose the least expensive qualifying tier: Compare only plans that meet those viewing and household needs.
- Calculate the ongoing cost: Add eligible bundle prices only after checking the renewal amount and included services. Compare against separate plans you actually intend to use.
- Recheck before paying: Verify the provider’s current price, promotion, taxes, availability, and plan restrictions in your region.
If several options fit, prioritize catalog match, then ongoing cost for the services you will use, then concurrency and sharing terms. The best choice is the one that fits your household’s viewing priorities and constraints—not necessarily the service with the most familiar name or the lowest promotional price.
