The current CMP report available is for 2026, and it explains how that year’s honorees were selected—but it does not establish the ninth edition’s launch date, nomination window or criteria. Here is what the current report confirms, and what readers should not assume about the earlier launch.
What is known about the ninth annual launch?
The available evidence does not confirm when the ninth annual Top Mortgage Employers program launched, which year it covered, or when nominations were due. It also does not establish the number of employers recognized or the original edition’s eligibility and judging rules. CMP’s 2026 report is useful context, not proof of the ninth edition’s details.
How did CMP select employers in its 2026 report?
CMP describes a two-stage process for the 2026 Top Mortgage Employers designation. Organizations across the mortgage sector first submitted information about benefits, culture, development pathways and workplace practices. Employees at nominated companies then completed an anonymous questionnaire assessing compensation, development, culture and work environment.
Companies needed to meet a minimum employee response count that varied by company size, and a satisfaction score of at least 75% to be named. CMP’s accessible report does not state the precise response-count thresholds. These are the criteria CMP reports for 2026; they should not be projected backward onto the ninth annual edition.

What workplace benefits mattered most in the 2026 survey?
Among employees in CMP’s 2026 surveyed cohort, flexible work options received the highest rating, at 4.57 out of five. Medical and dental coverage, vacation leave, retirement plans and sick leave also featured in the report. Development and recognition programs ranked close to retirement benefits. These findings describe the participating mortgage-employer cohort, not Canadian employees generally.
Mortgage broker Michelle Campbell told CMP: “Mortgage professionals want autonomy over how and where they work,” and said strong employers invest in mentorship, coaching and career development. The observations offer context for why flexibility and growth opportunities appear alongside pay and benefits in CMP’s account; they are not additional selection criteria established for the ninth edition.

What does the 2026 report say about HomeEquity Bank?
CMP reports that HomeEquity Bank received an 84% satisfaction score and a fifth consecutive Top Mortgage Employer designation in 2026. The bank’s own March 18, 2026 announcement confirms that it received the recognition and says the list draws on industry research and confidential employee surveys. The score and consecutive-year detail come from CMP’s report, not the bank’s announcement.

No. CMP’s 2025 report describes eight criteria and medal categories, while the 2026 account emphasizes compensation, development, culture and work environment and sets a 75% satisfaction threshold. Without the ninth edition’s own launch announcement or methodology, the differences do not show what rules applied to that edition.
