To fund Kraken by bank transfer, sign in, open Deposit (or the Transfer area), select the currency you intend to send, and choose a bank-transfer method available for your account. Use the exact bank details and any payment reference shown in Kraken. The currency sent must match the currency of the selected deposit method; there is no single best currency for every customer because availability depends on your location, bank, and account.
How to make a bank transfer to Kraken
- Open the funding page. Sign in to Kraken and select Deposit, or open the Transfer area. In Kraken Pro, follow the local-currency deposit flow described in Kraken’s Kraken Pro instructions.
- Select the currency you plan to send. Search for it on the funding page. Choose the currency your bank can send, not a currency you expect Kraken to convert after arrival.
- Choose an available transfer method. Review the options displayed for that currency and your account. A method may depend on your country, the bank’s transfer rails, and provider restrictions.
- Read the method’s instructions. Check the required transfer rail, recipient details, any provider notes, and whether you need to include your Kraken Public account ID as a payment reference. The ID begins with “AA”; include it when Kraken’s instructions request it.
- Copy the bank details into your bank’s transfer form. Kraken recommends copying the details from its interface rather than typing them manually. Confirm the recipient name and currency against the instructions before submitting.
- Check the costs, timing, and access terms. Compare Kraken’s listed fee, minimum deposit, processing estimate, and any withdrawal hold. Your bank or an intermediary bank may charge separately.
- Review the live funding page immediately before sending. Kraken’s available methods and eligibility can change, so use the instructions shown in your signed-in account rather than relying on an old transfer template.

How to choose the currency and transfer method
Choose a currency your bank already holds or can send economically, then use a Kraken method that accepts that exact currency and is available to your account. Kraken’s cash-deposit guidance says the currency sent must match the currency of the deposit method selected. For example, send EUR only to EUR deposit details, such as an applicable SEPA, SEPA Instant, or EUR SWIFT option. Sending a different currency may result in a return or additional charges. - Availability: Does the method appear in your signed-in account, and can your bank use the specified rail?
- Currency match: Can your bank send the selected currency without an unwanted conversion?
- Cost: What fee and minimum does Kraken list, and will your bank or an intermediary add a charge?
- Timing and access: What processing estimate and withdrawal hold does Kraken show?
Kraken’s options page, last updated October 1, 2026, gives examples of region- and method-dependent routes: USD methods for eligible US and worldwide transfers; EUR SEPA methods for eligible SEPA-area transfers and some worldwide routes; CAD domestic options; AUD bank transfer or OSKO in Australia; and GBP Faster Payments options for the UK or other stated availability. These are examples, not a guarantee that every method will appear for every customer. Check the current option and its terms in your own funding page.

Check provider-specific restrictions
A transfer method’s provider instructions can matter as much as the currency. Kraken says Banking Circle supports EUR SEPA or SEPA Instant and GBP Faster Payments Service. EUR or GBP SWIFT and GBP CHAPS are unsupported for that provider and are likely to be rejected. Details are in Kraken’s Banking Circle funding-provider guidance.
For Bank Frick, Kraken says worldwide SWIFT transfers can be made in EUR, CHF, USD, GBP, or CAD, using the currency selected on the deposit page. Bank Frick may convert a cross-currency transfer at its internal foreign-exchange rate, and the sending bank or intermediaries may add charges. See Kraken’s Bank Frick guidance.

What fees and processing times should you expect?
There is no single fee or arrival time for all Kraken bank transfers. The figures depend on the deposit method and may also depend on your registered country. Kraken’s cash-deposit options page, last updated October 1, 2026, lists examples including:
- US ACH via Plaid as near-instant for trading, with a seven-day withdrawal hold.
- FedWire for eligible US customers with a listed processing estimate of 0–1 business day and no Kraken deposit fee.
- EUR SEPA options with listed free deposits and processing estimates that vary by provider, from 0–3 business days to instant.
- Canadian e-Transfer with a listed estimate of 0–1 business day or instant, depending on the option.
- Australian bank transfer or OSKO with a listed estimate of 0–2 business days, with OSKO described as near-instant.
- GBP Faster Payments options with a listed estimate of 0–1 business day.
These are Kraken’s listed values on that page, not guaranteed delivery times or a statement that every option is available to every customer. Check the row for your method and country before sending, and account for any separate fees from your bank or intermediaries.

Requirements and common transfer mistakes
- Account-name mismatch: Kraken says the sending bank or financial account name must match the legal name on your Kraken account. A transfer from an account in someone else’s name may not meet Kraken’s requirements.
- Missing payment reference: Some deposits require the Kraken Public account ID beginning with “AA.” Add it exactly as shown when the deposit instructions request it.
- Wrong currency or rail: Do not send one currency to deposit details for another. Also verify that your bank can use the provider’s required rail; a generic international transfer may not satisfy a method’s instructions.
- Manually entered details: Copy recipient and bank information from the signed-in Kraken page to reduce the risk of a typing error.
- Outdated instructions: Reopen the deposit method before each transfer. Eligibility and provider details may change.
Where to check your personal deposit limit
Your cash-funding limits are account-specific. Kraken says they can depend on verification status, residence, transaction activity, account age, and asset, and may change.
