To sync Koofr between a computer and phone, sign in to the Koofr desktop and mobile apps with the same account, then use a cloud folder connected to the desktop app’s sync. By default, the desktop app syncs its local Koofr folder with My desktop sync in your Koofr account—not every folder in your cloud storage. Upload phone files to that synced cloud folder to have them download to your computer when its desktop client is online.
Set up Koofr on your computer
- Download and install the Koofr desktop app for your computer’s operating system, then sign in to your account.
- Use the local Koofr folder the app creates. Its contents sync with My desktop sync in your Koofr account. The default setup is folder-scoped; other cloud folders are not automatically mirrored to your computer. See Koofr’s guide to syncing across multiple devices and instructions for starting synchronization.
Synchronization requires the computer’s desktop client to be online. Files already in your account can still be accessed through Koofr’s mobile app when the phone has connectivity.
Access cloud files and upload from your phone
- Install or open the Koofr mobile app and sign in with the same account as on your computer.
- Browse to the cloud folder you want to use. To send files manually, use the app’s upload controls and select a destination folder. Koofr documents Android uploads here and copying files on iOS or Android here.
- For the uploaded files to appear on your computer, choose the cloud folder paired with the desktop app’s sync—for the default setup, that is My desktop sync. Files uploaded elsewhere in Koofr remain in those cloud folders unless you create another desktop sync for them.
Choose the right folder setup
| Setup | Folders included | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Default desktop sync | The local Koofr folder and My desktop sync in your account. | Use it for a straightforward computer-to-phone workflow: upload to that cloud folder from the phone, then let the desktop client sync it down. |
| Custom desktop sync | A local folder you select paired with a Koofr destination you select. | Use it when you need to sync another local or cloud folder. Koofr’s custom sync instructions say to open Syncs, choose Create new, select the local folder, choose its Koofr destination, and finish setup. |
Choose folders deliberately. Koofr advises against syncing system or operating-system folders; use folders containing the files you intend to sync instead.
Upload phone photos automatically (optional)
Manual upload gives you control over which files go and where. Automatic camera upload is useful for ongoing photo and video transfers, but it is a separate setting on each phone and may have platform-specific limits.

Android
In the Koofr app, open Settings > Media upload and enable Upload new media files. Review the options for backing up existing media, uploading only over Wi-Fi, and choosing the Koofr destination folder. Koofr’s Android auto-upload guide describes these controls.
iPhone or iPad
Open Settings > Auto camera upload and enable Backup photos and videos; choose a destination folder if desired. Koofr’s iOS upload guidance says that on iOS versions earlier than 26.4, automatic upload works only when the Koofr app is open. For Koofr app 4.0.0 or later on iOS 26.4 or later, background uploads are supported, but iOS may delay or pause them. Check the app and operating-system versions if uploads do not run as expected.

Keep files available offline on Android
Cloud access requires a connection. On Android, Koofr’s Copy offline option keeps a local copy in the app for offline viewing and updates that copy when the device reconnects. This is distinct from desktop synchronization and from uploading files; Koofr documents it in its Android offline-files guide. The cited guidance does not establish identical behavior for iOS.

Sync is not a separate backup
A sync keeps selected folders aligned across devices, so changes and deletions can propagate. Do not treat the synced computer folder as an independent backup or assume deleted files can always be recovered. Keep a separate backup if you need protection against accidental deletion or unwanted changes.
