To check whether a company filed its Regulation 74(5) certificate, search the company’s exchange disclosures and investor-relations page for the relevant period, then open the filing and verify the issuer, its registrar and transfer agent (RTA), and the period covered. If it is not readily available, search every exchange where the company is listed and ask the company secretary, compliance officer, or RTA for the filing date and a copy. A missing search result alone does not prove that no filing was made.
Where to look for the filing
Regulation 74(5) is part of the SEBI (Depositories and Participants) Regulations, 2018. SEBI’s regulations page shows the regulations as last amended on November 22, 2025. Consult the live regulation text for exact legal wording or legal advice; the steps below are for locating and checking a public filing.
- Identify the company and period. Use its listed name and, if available, exchange symbol. Decide which month or quarter you are checking; a filing for one period does not establish whether another period’s certificate was filed.
- Search the company’s disclosures. Check its investor-relations or stock-exchange filings page. On the exchange’s company announcements or corporate-filings page, search the company name or symbol alongside terms such as “Regulation 74(5),” “certificate,” “dematerialisation,” and the month or quarter. SEBI’s corporate-filings directory links to exchange filing resources, and NSE has a listing-compliance information page.
- Open the attachment. A search-result title is not enough to confirm what was filed. Review the issuer’s cover letter and the attached certificate for the company name, RTA, certificate date, and reporting period.
- Record the evidence. Note the exchange hosting the document and its filing date, and save the exchange-hosted document if you need a record of your check.
How to confirm the document matches your question
Check that the filing names the company you are investigating and covers the exact reporting period. Confirm that it contains an RTA-issued certificate, rather than relying only on a cover letter or a filing title. The issuer’s exchange submission and the RTA certificate are related but distinct parts of the evidence: the submission shows what was sent to the exchange, while the certificate states what the RTA confirms for the period it names.
For example, an NSE-hosted Quality Foils (India) Limited filing includes a company cover letter and a certificate issued by its RTA, Bigshare Services Private Limited, for the quarter ended December 31, 2025. In that sample, the certificate says the RTA confirmed securities received from depository participants for dematerialisation as accepted or rejected to the depositories, and refers to listing the securities and substituting the depositories’ names in the register of members.
#1 Best Overall
The certificate is evidence of a submission and of what the RTA asserted for the stated period; it is not independent verification of every underlying transaction or evidence about a different period.
If you cannot find a filing
- Repeat the search on every exchange where the company is listed, using the company name, symbol, “Regulation 74(5),” “certificate,” and the relevant period.
- Check the company’s own investor-relations or disclosure page for a copy or filing notice.
- Contact the company secretary or compliance officer, or the RTA, and request the certificate and the date it was submitted to the exchange.
Do not treat an empty search result as proof of non-filing. An NSE-hosted secretarial compliance report for RMC Switchgears records a delayed submission of an RTA certificate, illustrating why a filing may not appear where or when expected.

Why SEBI’s SCORES status page is not a filing lookup
SEBI’s SCORES entity-status page says its information is based on data collected from stock exchanges or the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and cautions that shortcomings or inaccuracies may occur. It is not presented as a dedicated Regulation 74(5) filing register. For this document, rely on the exchange-hosted issuer filing or seek confirmation from the company or RTA.
