Free access is not available everywhere. Anthropic’s Help Center says you must be physically located in a supported region to use the free version. Check the current supported-region information before relying on access while traveling or from a particular country.
How to access Claude without paying for Pro
- Check your location. Confirm that you are physically in a region where Claude is available.
- Choose a consumer access point. Open Claude on the web, or use its iOS, Android, or desktop access listed by Anthropic.
- Create or sign in to your account. Select the Free plan if prompted; you do not need to buy Pro to try the consumer service.
- Use the free allowance for your tasks. Free use has limits, so the amount available can depend on current plan rules and demand. Consult Anthropic’s plan page if you need to know what is included now.

Does Pro include API access?
No. A Claude chat subscription and Anthropic Console API usage are separate. API access is billed through prepaid credits; Anthropic says those credits expire one year after purchase and are non-refundable. Check the terms before adding credits if your goal is to avoid unexpected or ongoing charges.
