Tupperware Brands Corporation and certain subsidiaries filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Delaware on September 17, 2024. They initially sought to keep operating while pursuing a court-supervised sale. That sale closed on November 27, 2024, but it did not automatically preserve the value of the old company’s publicly traded shares.
What happened when Tupperware filed for bankruptcy?
Tupperware Brands Corporation and certain direct and indirect subsidiaries commenced voluntary Chapter 11 cases in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware on September 17, 2024. The company asked to continue operating as a debtor in possession while it pursued a sale. The company’s SEC filing describes the filing and requested authority.
Chapter 11 is a court-supervised restructuring process; filing did not mean that Tupperware shut down on that day or that all its assets were immediately liquidated. The filing, later sale, and subsequent winding-down of debtor entities are distinct events.
Did Tupperware keep selling products?
At the time of the filing, Tupperware said it intended to continue serving customers through sales consultants, retail partners, and Tupperware.com, subject to court approval and developments in the case. Its announcement also described the products it sold, including food-storage containers. That statement records the company’s plans in September 2024; it does not establish which channels or product listings are available now.

Whether a particular item is currently in stock depends on the retailer and seller. The 2024 announcement is not evidence of present inventory, current prices, or who supplies a live listing.
Who bought the operating business?
The bankruptcy court approved an asset purchase agreement on November 24, 2024, and the sale closed on November 27. The SEC-filed sale report identifies Party Products Holdings LLC and Party Products LLC as entities formed by and under the control of Tupperware’s lenders. The sale report describes consideration that included a $53.8 million credit bid and a cash component calculated as $15.5 million plus the Bridge Payoff Amount less Estimated Closing Cash. Those terms include a credit bid and defined adjustments; they should not be presented as a single cash sale price.

The debtors’ March 6, 2025 disclosure statement describes the transaction as involving acquired assets, assumed liabilities, and the acquisition of 100% of the equity interests in Premiere Brands International Holdings BV from Dart Industries Inc. and Tupperware Home Parties, LLC. It also describes a liquidating trust intended to administer assets for beneficiaries and wind down or dissolve certain debtor entities. The disclosure statement explains the proposed plan, but is not a full accounting of later trust activity or every remaining claim.
What did the bankruptcy mean for Tupperware shareholders?
The company warned that trading in its securities during Chapter 11 was highly speculative and could bear little or no relationship to actual recoveries. It said common stockholders could face a significant or complete loss, depending on the case outcome. The later sale of the operating business does not establish that holders of the old public shares retained value or received a recovery. The September 18, 2024 SEC filing also reports that the New York Stock Exchange moved to delist the stock.

What happened after the sale?
The sale closing did not end every court matter. The March 2025 disclosure statement describes a liquidating trust and plans to wind down or dissolve certain debtor entities. The Delaware Bankruptcy Court’s case page lists an opinion and order dated April 1, 2026. The court’s case page and the April 1, 2026 opinion and order confirm later court activity, but do not by themselves provide a complete current accounting of trust distributions, remaining claims, or all proceedings.

Why did Tupperware file?
In its September 17, 2024 announcement, CEO Laurie Ann Goldman said the company’s financial position had been “severely impacted by the challenging macroeconomic environment.” She characterized the filing as “the best path forward” after the company explored strategic options. These are the company’s explanation and characterization, not an independent finding about the causes of its financial difficulties.
