Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If a Layer 2 transfer appears stuck, first check the network’s official status page and the transaction’s status on its official bridge history or explorer. Don’t assume the bridge is down because your wallet cannot connect, and don’t submit a replacement transaction until you know whether the original was accepted. Recovery depends on the network and on whether the problem is an RPC endpoint, the sequencer, the bridge interface, or withdrawal finalization.
Is the sequencer offline, or is your connection failing?
A sequencer orders transactions for a rollup; a bridge handles messages or transfers between chains. They are related, but they are not the same service. Arbitrum’s documentation describes the sequencer as having specific privileges over transaction ordering. After it commits to an ordering by posting a batch on Ethereum, it no longer controls what happens next, including execution. A problem with sequencing, batch submission, a bridge interface, an RPC endpoint, or a wallet can therefore look similar while requiring a different response.
- Open the affected network’s official status page and check the individual components, including transaction sequencing, deposits, withdrawals, batch submission, and node sync where listed.
- Compare that status with what your wallet or application reports. An RPC failure can prevent your wallet from reaching a chain that is still producing blocks.
- If the official status page shows the relevant service is operational, check whether the RPC or wallet endpoint is the issue before treating the incident as a chain-wide outage.
Status pages are snapshots, not proof that a particular transaction or endpoint is working. On October 5, 2026, Base’s page showed its listed mainnet services as operational and no incidents; at access on October 7, 2026, Optimism’s page showed its listed components operational and no notices in the prior seven days. Those observations do not establish current status or guarantee an individual user’s access.
How do you check whether a transfer is pending, failed, or claimable?
Keep the transaction hash from the chain where you initiated the transfer. Search it in that network’s official bridge history or explorer rather than relying only on a wallet’s pending indicator. The correct hash depends on the direction of travel.

- Arbitrum, Ethereum to Arbitrum: use the initiating Ethereum (L1) transaction hash to check the cross-chain message.
- Arbitrum, Arbitrum to Ethereum: use the initiating Arbitrum (L2) transaction hash. The bridge history can show the withdrawal’s status and, when it is ready, provide a way to claim it.
- Arbitrum retryable ticket: use Arbitrum’s separate retryable-ticket redemption tool if the message is a retryable ticket; it is distinct from checking an ordinary transaction’s status.
A transfer can be recorded on one chain while its message or withdrawal is still waiting for a later step on the other. Check the message state and any claim or redemption action shown by the official interface before sending funds again.
Should you retry the transaction?
Retry only when the error is transient and the network’s guidance says the transaction was not accepted. Arbitrum’s chain information says network or connection errors and a sequencer context deadline exceeded can be retried with backoff because, in that case, the transaction was not accepted. A backoff means waiting between attempts rather than resending repeatedly.

- Next-Gen Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Speeds: 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz bands ensure smoother streaming and faster downloads; support VPN server and VPN client¹
- A More Responsive Experience: Enjoy smooth gaming, video streaming, and live feeds simultaneously. OFDMA makes your Wi-Fi stronger by allowing multiple clients to share one band at the same time, cutting latency and jitter.²
- Expanded Wi-Fi Coverage: 4 high-gain external antennas and Beamforming technology combine to extend strong, reliable, Wi-Fi throughout your home.
- Improved Battery Life: Target Wake Time helps your devices to communicate efficiently while consuming less power.
- Improved Cooling Design: No heat ups, no throttles. A larger heat sink and redefined case design cools the WiFi 6 system and enables your network to stay at top speeds in more versatile environments.
Do not blindly retry terminal errors such as nonce too low or a contract revert. And do not sign a replacement merely because a wallet interface is slow: first inspect the original hash to see whether it was accepted. A replacement can create a second transaction or complicate troubleshooting if the original is still progressing.
Can you bypass a sequencer outage?
Only use a bypass or forced-inclusion route if the affected network documents one. Arbitrum documents a way to send a message through its DelayedInbox to bypass the sequencer and force inclusion after a waiting period. Its FAQ described that wait as currently about 24 hours when accessed on October 7, 2026. The duration is volatile, and the mechanism is intended for rare situations, especially when the sequencer is expected not to return.

This is an Arbitrum-specific route, not a standard instruction for every Layer 2. The documentation reviewed for other networks does not establish an equivalent forced-inclusion procedure. Do not send a transaction to an address or follow bypass instructions found in an unofficial post; consult the affected network’s current official documentation.

An L2 withdrawal may need protocol-specific processing after the initiating transaction. It may not immediately appear as a conventional wallet-to-wallet transaction on Ethereum. ZKsync says withdrawals are generally internal transactions managed through BridgeHub, and may be visible under the explorer’s Internal Transactions section.

ZKsync documents a three-hour minimum execution delay for supported chains, but that is not a promise that a withdrawal will finalize on Ethereum within three hours. Its documentation says actual finalization depends on network activity and proof generation and can take longer. The earlier 21-hour delay mentioned in ZKsync’s documentation is historical; it is not the current documented minimum.

Which response fits the problem?
| What you observe | What to check or do | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Your wallet cannot connect, but the network status page shows services operating | Check the RPC or wallet endpoint; consider a different endpoint if you know how to configure one safely. | An alternate RPC may resolve an endpoint problem, but cannot restart a stopped sequencer or bridge. Arbitrum says its general-purpose public RPC has no uptime, latency, or rate-limit guarantees; it recommends third-party node infrastructure or a self-hosted node for applications that depend on availability. |
| The original transaction has a documented transient connection or sequencing error | Follow the network’s retry guidance and use backoff only if it says the transaction was not accepted. | Do not apply this to terminal errors or resend before checking the original transaction. |
| A cross-chain message is recorded but not complete | Use the official bridge history or explorer, with the initiating hash for the correct chain and direction. | A bridge interface being unavailable does not by itself prove the onchain message failed. |
| The network documents a forced-inclusion route | Follow that network’s own instructions and stated waiting period. | Arbitrum’s DelayedInbox is not a universal L2 recovery method. |
| A withdrawal is not yet visible as an ordinary L1 transfer | Check the protocol’s explorer and documented withdrawal-finalization steps. | For ZKsync, the three-hour minimum is not a guaranteed completion time. |
How can you avoid making the incident worse?
- Save the original transaction hash, the affected network, and the direction of the transfer before troubleshooting.
- Use the network’s official status page, bridge history, explorer, and documentation. A third-party RPC may help with endpoint access, but does not repair a network-wide outage.
- Never share a seed phrase with anyone offering to recover or release funds. A legitimate status check or transaction lookup does not require it.
- For a network not covered by the specific procedures above, verify its current official recovery documentation rather than borrowing steps from another L2.
