What did the 2024 European expansion cover?
According to 2024 Austrian coverage, the expansion let buyers on eBay.de shop eligible watch listings from sellers in Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Poland. Participating listings on eBay.de were marked with a blue badge. The report said the service applied to watches valued at €1,800 or more, for both business-to-consumer and consumer-to-consumer sellers, at no cost. The report named Stoll & Co. as eBay’s authentication partner and described a multi-stage process intended to check a watch’s authenticity and whether it matched its listing. Authentication is a check of the item against those criteria; the reporting does not describe it as a warranty or guarantee of a watch’s condition in every respect.

How does that compare with eBay’s current US terms?
eBay’s US policy is separate from the European expansion described above. Its current US watch page says eligible wristwatches listed at $2,000 or more receive authentication automatically at no cost. Selected watches priced from $500 to $1,999.99 may use it as an $80 add-on. eBay describes an expert inspection for authenticity and consistency with the listing, and says buyers receive a refund if a watch fails inspection; in some cases involving minor discrepancies, the buyer may have a choice. eBay US Authenticity Guarantee terms
The US policy excludes smartwatches, parts and accessories, customized watches, certain delivery arrangements, and purchases outside the eligible geography. What marketplace figures were cited at the event?
An August 6, 2024 event article reported two eBay-attributed figures for 2023: five Rolex watches sold daily on eBay.de, and the most expensive watch reportedly sold on eBay.at was an A. Lange & Söhne Langematik for €17,156. The underlying eBay publication for those figures was not independently located, so they are best read as reported marketplace claims, not audited statistics or evidence that a particular watch is currently available.
