Re:

Is the J&Berg B2 Titanium Watch Actually Affordable?

The J&Berg B2 pairs a 38.5 mm Grade 5 titanium case with a Miyota automatic movement. Its affordability today depends on finding a reliable current price and available stock.

The J&Berg B2 has a credible case as a compact, lightweight titanium automatic—but whether it is affordable depends on the price and stock you can verify now. Oracle Time listed it at £415 in an August 2024 review; the official pages available for this article showed the Lake Blue sold out at €620 and the Dark Brown sold out with an anomalous €0.00 display. Neither listing establishes a currently purchasable price.

What you get for the money

The B2 combines a 38.5 mm Grade 5 titanium case with a Miyota 9039 automatic movement, a recessed two-layer dial and 10 ATM water resistance. Its 53 g listed weight and 45.2 mm lug-to-lug measurement make compactness and low weight central to the proposition, rather than size or conspicuous heft. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.

Published specifications

Specification J&BERG B2

Diameter 38.5 mm
Lug-to-lug 45.2 mm
Thickness 10.4 mm, including crystal
Weight 53 g
Lug width 20 mm
Crystal Flat sapphire with inner anti-reflective coating
Movement Miyota 9039 automatic
Running time 42 hours
Dial Recessed two-layer sandwich construction with BGW9 Super-Luminova
Water resistance 10 ATM / 100 m, as stated by the brand and Oracle Time
Crown Screw-down; 6 mm diameter with engraved logo
Design and assembly Designed in Finland; assembled in Hong Kong

Oracle Time’s 2024 review also lists manual winding, 24 jewels and a 4 Hz beat rate. These details add context to the movement specification, but the available evidence does not establish performance through independent accuracy or durability testing. A 100 m rating is a water-resistance specification, not evidence of diving certification.

How the B2 may fit and feel

At 38.5 mm across, 45.2 mm lug-to-lug and 10.4 mm thick, the listed dimensions point to a relatively compact case. The 53 g weight is consistent with the appeal of a titanium watch for someone who prefers a lighter watch on the wrist. Dimensions cannot guarantee fit: wrist shape, the way the lugs sit, and personal preference matter.

Oracle Time’s Michael Sonsino described it as “it barely feels like you’re wearing a watch” and praised the dial’s balance of detail and restraint. He also thought the raised black dial layer could be thinner. These are the reviewer’s impressions from his 13 August 2024 hands-on review, not a claim of universal comfort.

What the price evidence says—and what it does not

Oracle Time’s UK review price was £415 on 13 August 2024. That is a dated listing, not a current quote. The official Lake Blue page accessed for this article displayed €620, included EU VAT language and marked the watch sold out. The official Dark Brown page also marked it sold out but displayed €0.00; that is not a credible offer and should not be treated as the watch’s price.

The figures are in different currencies and refer to listings at different times, so they do not establish a single current price or a like-for-like discount. Oracle Time called the watch accessible for a Grade 5 titanium automatic in the context of its review. Without a current available offer and a relevant comparison set, it is not possible to conclude that the B2 is a bargain today.

What to check before buying

  • Current availability and checkout price: Confirm that the seller can take an order and check the final amount in your currency, including applicable taxes and delivery charges.
  • Fit: Compare the 38.5 mm diameter, 45.2 mm lug-to-lug and 10.4 mm thickness with a watch you already find comfortable.
  • Movement expectations: The B2 uses an automatic movement with a listed 42-hour running time. The cited sources do not provide independent accuracy or long-term reliability results.
  • Water use: The stated rating is 10 ATM / 100 m. Do not infer a diving certification from that rating alone.
  • Variant and strap: Official pages list Dark Brown and Lake Blue versions. The 20 mm lug width is useful when searching for straps, but confirm the strap attachment and buckle compatibility for the specific watch and replacement strap.
  • Origin wording: J&BERG describes the B2 as designed in Finland and assembled in Hong Kong; that is not the same as saying it is made in Finland.

Verdict: a plausible value proposition, not a verified bargain

The B2’s strongest value case is specific: a small-format Grade 5 titanium case, low listed weight, sapphire crystal, Miyota 9039 automatic movement and distinctive layered dial. The 2024 £415 price provides historical context, while the official pages accessed here do not show a reliable, available current offer. Judge affordability against the price you can actually buy it for—not the sold-out listings or the anomalous €0.00 display.
