The $75 billion figure is not a reported result: Reuters’ October 7 report put the latest cited analyst forecast at 106.1 trillion won, or $79.1 billion, in operating profit. That estimate is volatile and is not the same as net profit or Samsung Group profit.
What the $75 billion figure means
The headline figure refers to a forecast of Samsung Electronics’ operating profit for the third quarter of 2026, covering July through September. Operating profit is a measure of profit from business operations before other items such as interest and taxes; it is not net income, and it does not describe the combined profit of every company in Samsung Group.
It is also not a Samsung-issued forecast or a reported result. Reuters’ October 7 report attributed its estimate to LSEG SmartEstimate, which draws on forecasts from 21 analysts and weights those with stronger track records. Reuters, October 7, 2026

The dollar amounts are the conversions reported by each publisher, not a fixed dollar value for the won forecasts. The two snapshots differ in date and stated methodology, so they should not be treated as identical readings of one unchanged consensus. The latest cited report does not support describing its forecast as exactly $75 billion.

Why analysts expect a large profit—and why the forecast shifted
Reuters attributed the expected increase chiefly to robust demand for AI-related products. It also noted two constraints: gains in memory-chip prices were moderating, and the won had strengthened. These are reported explanations for the outlook, not a breakdown or forecast issued by Samsung.
Despite expectations of a nearly nine-fold year-on-year increase, the Reuters-reported estimate had been cut 7.7% from its level at the end of August. A large projected increase and a downward revision can both be true: the forecast remained far above the prior-year comparison, but analysts had become less optimistic than they were earlier in the quarter. No Q3 2026 result or confirmed release date is established by the Samsung investor-relations material reviewed for this article. The company’s investor-relations pages include notices and an events archive, but the available pages do not confirm the quarter’s publication date or actual result. Check Samsung’s investor-relations notices and events archive for official updates rather than treating an analyst forecast or third-party date estimate as company confirmation.

- Check the publication date and the estimate provider; forecasts can change from one report to another.
- Confirm the currency and measure. The cited figures are in won and refer to operating profit, not net income.
- Look at the period covered: these estimates concern Samsung Electronics’ July–September 2026 quarter.
- For consensus figures, note the analyst count and methodology when reported. Reuters gives both for its LSEG SmartEstimate; Aju Press’ September 29 report does not state them in the cited coverage.
- Wait for Samsung’s own release to learn the reported result; analyst estimates are not a substitute for it.
