Nvidia could reach a $10 trillion market capitalization by the end of 2028, but that is a forecast—not a company target or a likely outcome that can be treated as certain. The case depends on exceptionally strong growth continuing and investors valuing the resulting earnings at a high multiple. Nvidia’s recent results and its FY2028 outlook support the bullish argument; execution risks and valuation assumptions leave substantial room for a different result.
What the $10 trillion prediction actually says
An October 5, 2026, Motley Fool forecast argues that Nvidia could exceed a $10 trillion market cap by the end of 2028. That is the author’s prediction, not guidance from Nvidia. The article’s prose used a $5.6 trillion starting valuation, while its live quote widget showed $5.8 trillion when accessed. Because those figures conflict and live market values change, neither should be treated here as an authoritative closing market cap.
The useful question is not whether Nvidia has already secured that destination; it has not. It is what revenue, earnings, and investor valuation would need to look like for the prediction to work.
What Nvidia’s growth evidence shows—and does not show
Reported fiscal 2026 results
Nvidia reported fiscal 2026 fourth-quarter Data Center revenue of $62.3 billion, up 75% year over year and 22% sequentially. For the full fiscal year, Data Center revenue reached $193.7 billion, up 68%. The company attributed growth to accelerated computing and AI. These are historical results, not evidence that the same growth rate will persist.

- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
Nvidia’s fiscal 2026 fourth-quarter results also described plans for its Rubin platform and customer deployments, which matter because future growth depends on shipping new systems and customers putting them to work.
FY2027 results and FY2028 outlook
Visible Alpha’s September 2026 report on Nvidia’s Q2 FY2027 results put total quarterly revenue at $96.2 billion, including $89 billion from Data Center. It reported that Nvidia expected approximately 70% revenue growth in FY2028. Visible Alpha compared that company outlook with its pre-quarter analyst consensus of 44% growth.

Those figures are not interchangeable: $96.2 billion and $89 billion are reported quarterly revenue; approximately 70% is management’s forward outlook as reported by Visible Alpha; and 44% is the provider’s earlier consensus snapshot. Neither forecast guarantees future growth. See Visible Alpha’s Q2 FY2027 analysis.
How the forecast gets to $10 trillion
Market capitalization is share price multiplied by the number of shares outstanding. To support a much larger market cap, Nvidia would need to generate far more earnings, command a high valuation relative to those earnings, or achieve some combination of the two. A fast-growing company can still fall short of a market-cap target if earnings disappoint or investors are willing to pay a lower multiple.

A separate June 2026 Motley Fool scenario illustrates the valuation arithmetic: it used estimated FY2028 earnings per share of $12.66 and assumed a price-to-earnings ratio of 34. Multiplying those assumptions produces a share-price estimate of about $430.44; translating that into a market cap above $10 trillion depends on the share count used. The EPS is an estimate and 34 times earnings is an assumed multiple, not a guaranteed result or objective fair value. The article presents a scenario, not a company forecast: Could Nvidia Reach a $10 Trillion Market Cap?
The October 2026 forecast and June scenario therefore should not be read as independent proof of a $10 trillion outcome. Both rely on assumptions about future growth and what investors will pay for it.

What could keep Nvidia from reaching the target
Nvidia’s Q2 FY2027 Form 10-Q describes growth led by Data Center products for accelerated computing and AI. It says Blackwell accounted for most system shipments and that Vera Rubin production shipments were expected to begin in fiscal Q3 2027. The same filing makes clear that converting demand into revenue involves supply, infrastructure, and customer execution—not demand alone.
- Supply and production: Component availability, production capacity, or delays could constrain shipments. Nvidia reported $279 billion in supply and capacity commitments as of July 26, 2026, up from $119 billion the prior quarter. Those commitments indicate preparation for demand; they are not $279 billion of guaranteed sales.
- Customer deployment: Buyers must be ready to install and deploy infrastructure. Delays can push revenue later than expected.
- Data-center infrastructure and financing: Customers need land, power, construction capacity, and access to capital. Shortages or funding constraints can limit deployments.
- Demand estimates and market conditions: If demand differs from Nvidia’s estimates, or competition and broader market valuations change, financial results and the multiple investors assign to earnings may be affected.
These dependencies are set out in Nvidia’s Q2 FY2027 Form 10-Q. They do not establish that growth will stop; they show why a strong outlook is not the same as a guaranteed result.

How to assess the prediction as an investor
Rather than treating $10 trillion as a yes-or-no fact today, track the assumptions that would have to hold:
- Compare actual results with the outlook. Watch whether revenue and earnings growth develop in line with management’s FY2028 outlook and how analyst expectations change.
- Separate earnings from the valuation multiple. A higher earnings estimate does not automatically produce a higher market cap if investors apply a lower price-to-earnings ratio.
- Follow product delivery. The pace of supply, production, and deployment for successive platforms will affect whether demand turns into recognized revenue.
- Look at customer readiness. Data-center construction, power availability, land, and financing can all shape how quickly customers can deploy systems.
- Allow for changing conditions. Demand, competition, and market valuations can shift before the end of 2028.
For a personal-finance decision, the distinction matters: a bullish scenario can help frame what would need to happen, but it does not establish that Nvidia shares are fairly priced or appropriate for a particular investor.
