Benzinga reported a fiscal 2028 target of about $20 billion and a fiscal 2031 target range of $70 billion to $90 billion—figures above the analyst consensus cited in its coverage. The company’s earlier results had also pointed to fast-growing data-center revenue and strong AI-related bookings.
What happened to Marvell shares on October 6?
Marvell held its Investor Day in New York City on the morning of October 6. The company had announced that CEO Matt Murphy and senior leaders would present, with a webcast available through its investor-relations event calendar.
News reports tied the stock’s rise to the outlook discussed at the event. The reported gains varied during the session, so they should be read as snapshots rather than as a single closing-price figure:

What Investor Day outlook was reported?
Benzinga’s October 6 coverage reported that Marvell projected approximately $20 billion in fiscal 2028 revenue, compared with an analyst consensus of $18.2 billion, and set a fiscal 2031 revenue target range of $70 billion to $90 billion. The report also said Murphy estimated Marvell’s addressable AI market could reach about $400 billion by 2030.
Those figures are reported summaries of the Investor Day outlook, not independently verified here against a post-event company presentation or transcript. The AI-market estimate describes a potential addressable market, not revenue Marvell has already earned or is certain to capture.

Benzinga also reported that Marvell had generated $8.2 billion in revenue in the preceding fiscal year and that the FY2028 target had been lifted several times from an earlier target of about $13 billion in December 2025. A larger target relative to analysts’ expectations can change investor expectations, but it does not establish that the company will meet the target.
Why AI and data-center growth mattered
Investors had operating results to weigh alongside the longer-range targets. In its August 27, 2026 results release for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, Marvell reported revenue of $2.739 billion, up 37% year over year, and data-center revenue growth of 46% year over year. The company said: “AI-related bookings remain exceptionally robust, and we expect our revenue growth to accelerate further through the remainder of fiscal 2027.” It also raised its fiscal 2027 and fiscal 2028 outlook compared with the prior quarter.

That release supplied evidence of current momentum before Investor Day, while the October targets offered investors a much longer-range view. The earlier quarterly results do not, by themselves, validate the later targets.

No. The broader market was higher on October 6: Benzinga reported the Nasdaq up 0.66%, the S&P 500 up 0.67%, and the technology sector up about 0.8%. The same report said Marvell’s advance exceeded the sector’s increase. That points to a company-specific catalyst in addition to a generally positive market, without proving that Investor Day was the only influence on the share price.

What the rally does—and does not—show
- The immediate reported catalyst was Marvell’s Investor Day outlook, with revenue targets Benzinga said were above the consensus it cited.
- Recent revenue growth and AI-related bookings helped provide context for why investors might take the outlook seriously.
- Forecasts and addressable-market estimates are not realized revenue, and an unusually large stock move does not establish whether MRVL is fairly valued or suitable for a particular investor.
