Reuters reported on Oct. 5, 2026, that central-bank leaders and other officials were scheduled to meet in Istanbul on Oct. 8–9 for the Istanbul Economic Forum. The planned agenda covered inflation, monetary policy and the global outlook, alongside debt, economic fragmentation and the effects of artificial intelligence and digital innovation. These were pre-event plans; the report does not confirm that the forum took place or who attended.

Reuters named four prominent officials among those due to attend: Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller, Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey, Bank for International Settlements General Manager Pablo Hernández de Cos, and Banque de France Governor Emmanuel Moulin.
The planned group also included central-bank governors from Greece, the Netherlands, Hungary, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. Reuters reported that 16 central-bank governors and eight deputy governors were scheduled, along with the finance ministers of Türkiye and Egypt and officials from international financial institutions. These were announced expectations, not confirmed attendance.
