Why a 4chan Bitcoin Prophecy Says October 5, 2026 Is the End of Crypto Winter

A reported 4chan post appeared to call Bitcoin’s October 2025 peak, but its projected October 5, 2026 low does not confirm a market bottom.

A Bitcoin prediction attributed to an anonymous 4chan post appeared to get one date right: it reportedly called for a peak on October 6, 2025, when Bitcoin later reached a reported $126,198.07. The post’s calendar arithmetic points to October 5, 2026 as a possible cycle low—but that is a forecast date, not proof that Bitcoin has bottomed or that crypto winter is over.

What the 4chan Bitcoin prophecy predicted

Decrypt reported that an anonymous 4chan user, identified in its account as SBC7H7La, posted the prediction on December 12, 2023. According to Decrypt, the post claimed a recurring Bitcoin-cycle pattern: 1,064 days from a prior low to a high, followed by 364 days from a high to a low. It used that pattern to project a peak on October 6, 2025, and a subsequent low on October 5, 2026. Decrypt’s account is the source for the post’s contents and dates; the original post was not independently authenticated here.

Decrypt reported that Bitcoin touched $126,198.07 on October 6, 2025, matching the date the post had reportedly named. That is the striking part of the story, but one date match does not establish that the intervals are a reliable forecasting method.

Why October 5, 2026 is not confirmation of a market bottom

October 5, 2026 follows October 6, 2025 by 364 calendar days. Reaching the projected date only shows that the calendar interval elapsed; it does not show that Bitcoin formed a lasting low on that day. A bottom is identified through market behavior over time, not by the arrival of a date printed in an earlier prediction.

Bitkey Bitcoin Hardware Wallet, No Screen - Self-Custody, No Seed Phrase
  • BITCOIN EXCLUSIVE, PHONE VERIFICATION: Bitkey is designed from the ground up exclusively for bitcoin — a dedicated hardware wallet for secure bitcoin storage. Approve transactions with a tap using your phone and NFC. No device screen is required.
  • SELF-CUSTODY, NO EXCHANGE OR CUSTODIAN REQUIRED: You hold two of the three keys in the Bitkey system – one on your phone and one on your Bitkey device. The third is stored on Bitkey’s server and cannot move your bitcoin on its own.
  • NO SEED PHRASE: Set up and use Bitkey without creating or storing a seed phrase.
  • 2-of-3 MULTISIG: Three keys are stored separately across your phone, Bitkey device, and Bitkey’s server. Any two keys are required to move your bitcoin.
  • BUILT-IN RECOVERY: Encrypted backup and recovery tools can help you regain access if you lose your phone or Bitkey device. You can also designate a Recovery Contact.

Decrypt’s October 5, 2026 article placed Bitcoin near $86,100, roughly 30% below the reported peak, and said it had traded near $57,000 in July 2026. Those are dated price snapshots, not current quotes or settled evidence of where the cycle stands. Decrypt also reported that analyst Benjamin Cowen saw a window for further decline; that is attributed commentary, not confirmation that another drop—or a bottom—will occur.

Could they be right again?

It is possible for a forecast based on historical intervals to line up with a later market date. The reported peak-date match is a reason the post drew attention, but it is not enough to show that its next projection will work. The account describes two claimed repetitions of the 1,064-day and 364-day intervals; two observed intervals do not prove a stable rule, and the reported post’s calculation does not by itself establish predictive skill.

To assess the claim fairly, separate three things: what the post reportedly said, what price action was later reported, and what remains unknown. The post is described through Decrypt’s reporting rather than verified against an accessible original archive here. The reported price figures likewise come from that article, not an independently checked exchange-level price history. Digital Today repeated the dates and figures while reporting Decrypt’s story, so it is not independent confirmation of the post or the market data. Digital Today’s account should be read with that attribution in mind.

What this means for Bitcoin investors

A memorable prediction is not a dependable basis for deciding when to buy, sell, or change a long-term plan. Treat the October 5 date as a reported forecast, not a signal that risk has passed. Crypto prices can move sharply, and neither a price snapshot nor a cycle theory removes the possibility of further losses.
