Former Alabama finance director Bill Poole has announced three new ventures: a finance, legal and external affairs executive role at Harrison Construction, an operating-partner role at private equity firm Accelerated Partners, and plans to form a policy consulting firm called Poole Growth Strategies.
What are Bill Poole’s new roles?
Poole announced the roles about a week after leaving Alabama state government, according to Alabama Political Reporter’s October 6, 2026 account. The positions are separate ventures, not three jobs at a single employer.

What will he do at Harrison Construction?
Harrison Construction is based in Tuscaloosa. Poole’s stated executive remit covers finance, legal matters and external affairs, with work to help grow the company’s Tuscaloosa and Mobile offices. Harrison Construction President Tim Harrison described Poole as “a trusted attorney, advisor, and friend to Harrison Construction for many years.”
That relationship predates Poole’s public service: his law office represented Harrison Construction before he entered government in 2010, the Alabama Political Reporter account says. The reviewed reporting does not establish a conflict finding; the prior representation is relevant background, not proof of wrongdoing.

What is his role with Accelerated Partners?
Accelerated Partners is a Birmingham-based private equity firm. As an operating partner, Poole is expected to help identify and scale private companies in the Southeast. The announcement does not describe specific portfolio companies, investments, compensation or contractual terms.
What is Poole Growth Strategies?
Poole said he plans to form Poole Growth Strategies, a consulting firm focused on fiscal, education and economic development policy. The account does not give a launch date, client list or details about the firm’s services, so its operating status and engagements are not yet established.
What was Poole’s role in Alabama government?
Poole served as Alabama state finance director beginning in 2021. The Governor’s Office announced his appointment effective August 1, 2021, and identified him as the former chairman of the House Ways and Means Education Committee. He represented House District 63, graduated from the University of Alabama and its School of Law, and had practiced law since 2004 before taking the finance director position, according to the Governor’s Office appointment announcement.
Alabama Political Reporter says Poole’s 16 years in public office included eight years chairing the House education appropriations committee. Its 2026 account also credits him with helping oversee distribution of more than $2 billion in federal COVID-19 relief and helping steer more than $7 billion in public bond financing, including financing for the Mobile River Bridge. Those figures are reported by the outlet, not independently audited in the account. The Governor’s Office’s 2021 announcement described the Education Trust Fund as a nearly $8 billion budget at that time; that is a historical figure, not a current budget estimate.

Will Poole remain chair of Innovate Alabama?
The October 2026 report says Poole plans to remain chair of Innovate Alabama, subject to future approvals. It does not confirm whether those approvals were later granted.
