Circle’s USDC account shared a photo of DJ Khaled in a Chelsea shirt branded “USDC by Circle,” and Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire later welcomed him to “team USDC.” The posts, as described by Decrypt, did not announce that Circle had hired Khaled, made him an ambassador, or paid him. That is not proof no private arrangement exists; it means the public posts did not establish one.
What Circle and Jeremy Allaire posted
Decrypt reported on October 6, 2026, that the official USDC account had shared a photo of Khaled wearing a Chelsea shirt bearing “USDC by Circle,” with the caption “Another one.” About four hours later, Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire reposted it and wrote, “DJ Khaled welcome to team USDC.” Those wordings are attributed here to Decrypt’s report; the original social posts were not independently verified. The exchange was playful, but the language left the nature of Khaled’s association unclear. Neither post, as described in the report, announced a sponsorship, ambassador position, or payment. A public welcome is not by itself evidence of a formal endorsement contract, and the absence of an announcement in those posts cannot rule out a private agreement.
Why the posts drew criticism
Criticism focused on Khaled’s earlier promotion of Centra Tech’s CTR token. In 2017, he promoted the token on social media; in 2018, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission settled an action against him over failing to disclose that he had been paid for the promotion. What the SEC order says about Khaled
The SEC’s April 3, 2018 order records that Khaled received $50,000 for the promotional post and sets out the settlement terms. The action against him concerned nondisclosure of compensation. It was not a fraud charge against Khaled. SEC order and announcement, April 3, 2018

Why the Centra founders’ case is a separate issue
The SEC’s action against Khaled was about disclosing that his promotion was paid. It should not be conflated with separate allegations and outcomes involving Centra Tech’s founders. Saying Khaled was charged with fraud in this matter would misstate the action described by the SEC order and Decrypt’s report.
What the Chelsea connection does—and does not—show
Decrypt described Chelsea as Circle’s front-of-shirt partner and noted that Khaled had appeared at the club through a separate Roc Nation-related announcement in May. That is contextual background, not evidence that Circle contracted with Khaled or an explanation confirmed by either company for the USDC post. Decrypt’s October 6 report

What is established about a Circle deal
The available public wording establishes that the USDC account posted Khaled in a USDC-branded Chelsea shirt and that Allaire welcomed him to “team USDC.” It does not establish a paid promotion, sponsorship, or ambassador role. Unless Circle or Khaled makes a direct clarification, the careful conclusion is that the posts prompted speculation but did not confirm a formal endorsement deal.
