The update coincided with the rally, but the available reports do not establish it as the move’s sole cause. The prices and volumes below are dated intraday observations, not current quotes or closing data.
What happened to Meesho shares?
Business Standard reported that Meesho shares gained about 10% in the two trading days through October 6, 2026. During October 6 intraday trading, it reported a BSE price of ₹240.40, up 5%. By 1:39 p.m., a combined 25.28 million shares had traded on the NSE and BSE, and the report also cited a 5.4% gain to ₹238.60 at that time, while the Sensex was up 0.75%. These are observations from different moments in the session, not a single closing quote. Business Standard’s October 6 report provides the dated market figures.
Moneycontrol separately reported that the stock touched ₹240.50 on the NSE, up 6.19%, during Tuesday’s session. That NSE high differs from Business Standard’s BSE observation in both exchange and timing, so the figures should not be combined as if they describe the same quote. Moneycontrol’s October 6 report gives its exchange-specific observation.
What update coincided with the rally?
Reports connected the share-price move with a Meesho update that content-commerce net merchandise value (NMV) had grown 152% year over year. Meesho also reported more than 160,000 active content-commerce creators over the preceding 12 months. NMV is an operating metric, not revenue. The reports establish that the company update and rally occurred together; they do not show that the update alone caused the share-price rise. Business Standard and Moneycontrol attributed the operating figures to the company.

What did the reported creator and order mix show?

- About 90% of active content-commerce creators were nano-creators, and 81% were from non-metro India.
- Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities accounted for 66% of content-commerce orders. Business Standard cited Varanasi, Agartala, Jabalpur and Madurai as examples.
- Moneycontrol reported that homemakers made up 40% of active creators, while young graduates accounted for 30%—around 50,000 creators.
- Among active homemaker creators, 78% were from non-metro India; 25% of all active creators were first-timers.
These are company-reported figures as carried by Business Standard and Moneycontrol, not independently measured estimates.

What was Jefferies’ outlook—and what risks did it identify?
Business Standard relayed Jefferies’ view that Meesho management expected annual NMV growth of 25% over the next five years, supported by user growth, order frequency and logistics efficiencies. Jefferies forecast a 25% NMV compound annual growth rate (CAGR) and a 28% revenue CAGR for FY26–30. These are attributed expectations and brokerage forecasts, not guaranteed outcomes or independently verified company guidance.
Jefferies valued Meesho at 1.4 times estimated September 2028 NMV to arrive at a ₹240 price target, according to the same report. That target depends on the brokerage’s forecast period and valuation assumption; it is not a current market quote or a prediction that the share price will reach that level.

How should investors read the move?
The rally is a dated market event, not evidence on its own that the share is undervalued or that the operating trend will continue. The company update offers a potential context for investor interest, while the intraday prices and trading volume show what happened in that particular session. Neither establishes why every investor traded or what the stock will do next. This account explains the reported move and is not individualized investment advice.
