Injective co-founder and CEO Eric Chen said he thinks 2027 is “a little bit too far” for U.S. Injective-linked exchange-traded funds, but he did not give a launch date. His view is a forecast, not an official timetable: the available filings do not establish that either proposal has been approved or will begin trading before 2027.

What did Eric Chen say about an INJ ETF launch?

In an interview with The Block at Korea Blockchain Week 2026, Chen said: “I can’t comment on the specific time, but I think 2027 is a little bit too far.” He added, “It’s actually way sooner than I expected as well, so we’ll see.” The Block characterized his comments as expecting a launch before 2027, but Chen did not name a month, day, or confirmed launch window. The Block reported his remarks on October 5, 2026.

Which U.S. INJ ETF proposals are involved?

The Block identified two proposals: the 21Shares Injective ETF and the Canary Staked INJ ETF. They should not be treated as having identical terms or filing records.

Proposal What the available records establish Important qualification
21Shares Injective ETF The SEC EDGAR index lists an S-1/A, “Amendment No. 1 to Form S-1,” filed September 18, 2026. SEC EDGAR filing index An amendment is a registration-statement filing, not evidence of SEC approval, effectiveness, exchange listing, or trading.
Canary Staked INJ ETF The Block reported that Canary submitted an amended S-1 in September 2026. A Federal Register notice describes the proposal’s trust and staking terms. Federal Register notice dated August 28, 2025 The exact amendment index and any later SEC action are not established by the records cited here. The notice describes proposed terms, not a currently available fund.

What does a filing amendment mean for investors?

An S-1 or amended S-1 is part of a registration process. It does not, by itself, mean that a fund is approved or that trading can start. A launch would require the relevant regulatory steps to be completed and the product to be listed and commence trading. The records cited here do not confirm those outcomes for either proposal.

That distinction matters when interpreting Chen’s comments: he offered an expectation about timing, while the filing record documents steps in a process. Neither establishes a definite pre-2027 launch.

What is different about Canary’s proposed staking terms?

The Federal Register notice says the proposed Canary trust would hold INJ and cash or cash equivalents. It also says the sponsor may stake some or all of the trust’s INJ through staking providers. These are terms described in the proposal, not proof that staking is currently occurring in a fund or that investors would receive guaranteed returns. The notice dates to August 28, 2025, so it should not be assumed to reflect every term in a later amendment.

What should readers take from Chen’s forecast?

For someone asking “When will the INJ ETF launch?”, the most accurate answer is that no confirmed launch date is established here. Chen said he thought 2027 was too far away, and The Block described that as an expectation of a sooner launch. It remains an executive’s forecast rather than an approval announcement or trading schedule.
