1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsHFCL shares had tripled over the six months preceding October 6, 2026, according to The Economic Times. The article linked the rally to a rising order book, telecom demand, export growth, defence business and global AI-related spending. HFCL’s FY26 results show strong growth in revenue and profit, but a rising share price also reflects expectations: neither a large order book nor demand for AI infrastructure guarantees future sales, margins or returns.
What the six-month rally does—and does not—tell you
The Economic Times described HFCL’s share price as having tripled over the preceding six months in its October 6, 2026 article. That is the article’s characterization of the move; the return has not been independently recalculated here from a dated share-price series. The exact result can depend on the start and end dates and whether the comparison uses closing or intraday prices, and adjusted or unadjusted prices.
The article attributed investor interest to business developments and broader market themes. That is an explanation of the rally, not proof that any one factor caused it or that the share price will keep rising. Company operating results can support the investment case, but they do not establish whether the stock’s current price is attractive.
What HFCL reported in FY26
HFCL’s FY26 results announcement, dated April 30, 2026, reported year-over-year increases in revenue, EBITDA and profit after tax (PAT). It also reported a larger year-end order book and a higher share of export revenue.

| Measure | FY26 reported figure | Comparison or context |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | ₹4,949.27 crore | Up 21.77% year over year |
| EBITDA | ₹826.75 crore | Up 63.15% year over year |
| PAT | ₹329.44 crore | Up 90.14% year over year |
| Year-end order book | ₹21,206 crore | ₹9,967 crore at FY25 year-end |
| Export revenue | ₹2,047 crore, about 41% of FY26 revenue | ₹497 crore, or 12% of revenue, in FY25 |
These are company-reported results, not forecasts. The much faster growth in EBITDA and PAT than in revenue is a relevant part of the FY26 picture, but one year’s growth does not establish that the same pace or margins will persist.
How the order book fits into the growth story
HFCL’s reported FY26 year-end order book was ₹21,206 crore. The Economic Times subsequently put it at ₹26,665 crore at the end of June 2026—nearly five times FY26 revenue. The June figure is reported by the newspaper; it is not attributed here to an independently retrieved company filing.
An order book represents contracted work awaiting execution, not revenue already earned. The value investors ultimately see in it depends on delivery schedules, cancellations or changes, project execution, costs, product mix and when revenue is recognized. It should therefore be read alongside reported sales, profit, cash generation and the composition of the orders rather than treated as a forecast on its own.

The newspaper also reported that HFCL expected international markets to contribute more than 60% of revenue by the end of FY27. That is a reported company expectation, not a realized result. HFCL’s FY26 results put exports at ₹2,047 crore, approximately 41% of revenue; The Economic Times rounded the FY26 share to 40%.
Why AI and data-centre spending may matter to HFCL
AI-related computing requires substantial data-centre and network infrastructure, including high-capacity optical connections. The Economic Times connected global AI-related capital spending with demand for HFCL’s optical fibre and cable business. That is a plausible market theme, but the article’s account does not establish how much of HFCL’s sales or order pipeline is directly attributable to AI or data centres.
The newspaper reported that HFCL’s optical-fibre capacity had increased to 34 million fibre-kilometres from 28 million, and optical-fibre-cable capacity to 43 million from 34 million. It also reported plans for a preform facility—preform is the high-purity glass rod from which optical fibre is drawn—with annual capacity of 300 tonnes targeted by July 2029 at a cost of ₹580 crore. These capacity and schedule details are reported figures and plans, not evidence that the future facility is already operating.

HFCL’s April 2026 investor presentation discusses the AI and data-centre opportunity and the company’s planned expansion, including backward integration into preform production. Market-opportunity estimates in a company presentation are management’s estimates, not independently measured demand. Whether new capacity creates returns will depend on commissioning, utilization, customer demand and the economics of production.
What the defence business adds—and what remains in development
The Economic Times reported a defence order book of ₹2,300 crore at the end of June 2026 and said HFCL began setting up an ammunition manufacturing complex during that quarter. It described the company’s portfolio as including surveillance radars, thermal imaging and tactical communications.
HFCL’s February 3, 2026 investor-call transcript described orders in radars, electronic fuzes and electro-optical systems, including thermal weapon sights, as well as a domestic UAV-maker contract for thermal cameras used in surveillance. The call separately described drone-detection radar and foliage-penetration radar as being in advanced validation, and specialized drone platforms as still under technology-transfer discussions. Those development-stage items should not be counted as secured orders or established revenue.

Company targets versus reported FY27 guidance
The October 6 Economic Times article reported that HFCL’s FY27 guidance was 40% revenue growth and a 23% EBITDA margin, raised from earlier estimates of 20% for each. The official HFCL materials identified here do not confirm those precise FY27 figures, so they should be attributed to the newspaper rather than presented as verified company guidance.
HFCL’s April 2026 investor presentation states a target of a 20–21% EBITDA margin by FY29. That is a longer-term company target, not a reported result and not confirmation of the article’s FY27 figures.
| Figure | What it represents | Source and timing |
|---|---|---|
| 40% revenue growth; 23% EBITDA margin | Reported FY27 guidance; not confirmed in the HFCL materials identified here | The Economic Times, October 6, 2026 |
| 20–21% EBITDA margin | Company target for FY29, not a realized margin | HFCL Investor Presentation 2026, April |
Valuation and risks to weigh against the growth narrative
The Economic Times cited a trailing price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 64, compared with a five-year average of 39. These are the article’s point-in-time figures, not a current valuation update. P/E can change with the share price and reported earnings, and a historical average is a comparison point rather than a measure of fair value.

Compatible with Cisco, Ubiquiti, Mikrotik, Juniper, HPE, Arista, TP-Link, Netgear, Intel, Fortinet, Zyxel, Mellanox, Supermicro, Huawei, ZTE, Brocade, D-Link, and others.
The article also identified weak market sentiment and geopolitical uncertainty as short-term risks. Other questions follow from HFCL’s reported growth and expansion plans:
- Order conversion: How quickly are booked projects delivered and recognized as revenue, and what happens to margins as the mix changes?
- Exports: Can international sales keep growing, and how exposed are results to customer, market or currency concentration?
- Capacity and investment: Can planned facilities be commissioned on schedule and used productively, and what working capital and funding will expansion require?
- Defence pipeline: Which products have confirmed orders, and which remain in validation or discussion?
- Price versus performance: Does future earnings growth justify the valuation investors are paying? Strong historic growth alone cannot answer that question.
HFCL Managing Director Mahendra Nahata said on the company’s investor page, “HFCL is well-positioned to harness global opportunities in the technology and telecom sectors, driving our expansion and improving profitability through strategic investments in R&D and international markets.” This is company messaging about its outlook, not independent confirmation of future performance.
How to assess whether the rally has operating support
A useful way to evaluate HFCL is to keep five comparisons distinct rather than treating the share-price rise as a verdict on the business:
Quick Recap
- Compare realized revenue, EBITDA and PAT with the company’s stated targets.
- Track order-book composition and conversion into reported revenue, not just the total order-book value.
- Measure export contribution against the company’s international-market expectations.
- Consider growth and margin prospects alongside the valuation multiple, recognizing that both earnings and share prices change.
- Separate confirmed defence orders from products still in validation or technology-transfer discussions.
