Construction Partners, Inc. (Nasdaq: ROAD) announced on October 5, 2026, that it acquired the asphalt manufacturing and construction assets of J.H. Strain & Sons, adding two hot-mix asphalt plants, crews and equipment serving the greater Abilene, Texas, area. CPI said more than 125 employees joined its Texas platform company, Lone Star Paving, which will take on the acquired operations. The company did not disclose the purchase price or the plants’ capacities.
What did Construction Partners acquire in Abilene?
The acquisition covers J.H. Strain & Sons’ asphalt manufacturing and construction assets. The company is headquartered in Tye, Texas. CPI described the package as two hot-mix asphalt plants, related crews and equipment serving the greater Abilene market. Why does CPI say the Abilene deal matters?
CPI President and CEO Fred J. (Jule) Smith III described Abilene as a growing market with a diversified economy and ongoing investment, including data-center-related developments. He said the plants, fleet and workforce would give Lone Star a local presence to serve public and private infrastructure customers in greater Abilene and West Texas.
