The five highest-paid non-employee directors were Art Levinson, Ron Sugar, Andrea Jung, Sue Wagner and Alex Gorsky. These are two separate rankings from Apple’s 2026 proxy statement: Cook’s compensation appears in the executive table, not the director table.
Apple’s five highest-paid executives in fiscal 2025
Apple’s 2026 proxy statement lists the following named executive officers and reported total compensation for fiscal 2025:
| Rank | Executive | Role listed by Apple | Reported total compensation |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tim Cook | Chief Executive Officer | $74,294,811 |
| 2 | Deirdre O’Brien | Senior Vice President, Retail + People | $27,047,633 |
| 3 | Kate Adams | Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary | $27,032,248 |
| 4 | Sabih Khan | Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer | $27,031,671 |
| 5 | Kevan Parekh | Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer | $22,467,309 |
The next named officer below this group was Luca Maestri, listed as former Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, with reported total compensation of $15,482,928. Parekh became CFO in January 2025 as Maestri transitioned from the role, so their reported figures reflect a year with a leadership change.
Apple’s five highest-paid non-employee directors
Apple reports non-employee director compensation separately. Its fiscal 2025 ranking is:

| Rank | Director | Reported total compensation |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Art Levinson | $557,231 |
| 2 | Ron Sugar | $471,283 |
| 3 | Andrea Jung | $458,020 |
| 4 | Sue Wagner | $445,373 |
| 5 | Alex Gorsky | $416,492 |
The other non-employee directors listed were Monica Lozano, at $412,956, and Wanda Austin, at $412,850. Cook is a director as well as Apple’s CEO, but the company reports his compensation as an executive; including him in this non-employee director ranking would mix two different disclosure categories.
What Apple’s reported compensation totals include
For executives, Apple’s Summary Compensation Table totals salary, stock awards, non-equity incentive plan compensation and all other compensation. The stock-award amount is grant-date fair value calculated under accounting rules. It is not the same as cash received or the value of shares realized when they vest. Apple reports stock vesting and realized value separately.
Director totals include cash fees, stock awards and all other compensation. The stock-award figure is the aggregate grant-date fair value of restricted stock units (RSUs) under ASC 718. For fiscal 2025 awards, Apple used the closing share price on each grant date to value the RSUs: Levinson received 1,113 RSUs, while each other non-employee director received 1,255. Apple says its all-other-compensation category reflects products provided through its board equipment program and, for Sugar and Jung, matching charitable contributions.
Why executive pay varied in fiscal 2025
Apple reported fiscal 2025 net sales of $416.2 billion and operating income of $133.1 billion. The company said those results exceeded the maximum performance goals considered, resulting in maximum cash incentive plan payouts for each named executive officer.
Rank #3
Apple also reported that performance-based RSUs granted in 2022 and vested in 2025 paid out at 187% of target. The applicable performance period’s relative total shareholder return placed Apple at the 81.20th percentile among S&P 500 companies. That percentile measures performance over the award’s specified period; it is not a measure of Apple’s stock-price return during calendar 2025 alone.
What the disclosures say about pay and shareholder oversight
Apple disclosed a CEO-to-median-employee pay ratio of 533 to 1 for fiscal 2025, using Cook’s annual total compensation of $74,294,811 and median employee compensation of $139,483. The company cautions that SEC rules permit exclusions, estimates and different methods for identifying the median employee, so ratios may not be comparable across companies.
At Apple’s 2025 annual meeting, 92% of votes cast supported the advisory say-on-pay proposal, as reported in the 2026 proxy statement. The vote is nonbinding on Apple, its board and its compensation committee. Apple says it considers shareholder feedback when setting future compensation.
Apple’s People and Compensation Committee said that 2025 compensation reflected executives’ contributions to the company’s success and alignment with financial results and shareholder interests. That is the committee’s explanation of its approach, not an independent assessment of whether the pay structure is aligned.

How to interpret these rankings
- Use fiscal-year figures. Apple’s proxy follows the company’s fiscal calendar, so these are fiscal 2025 amounts, not necessarily compensation paid during calendar 2025.
- Keep categories distinct. Executive compensation and non-employee director compensation come from separate tables; the director list is not a ranking of every person who serves on Apple’s board.
- Do not read total compensation as salary. The totals include equity awards valued on the grant date and other components, so they do not equal cash pay or the value ultimately realized from stock.
- Treat the rankings as Apple’s disclosures. They report amounts and rank individuals but do not independently evaluate whether compensation is appropriate or compare it with a broader executive-pay benchmark.
