Those are displayed starting prices, not out-the-door totals: Tesla’s example base order adds destination and order charges, and its shown total still excludes taxes and other fees. The right comparison is the delivered price of the exact configuration, alongside the range, seating, and equipment you need.
How much does a Tesla Model Y cost?
The following US-oriented snapshot combines Tesla’s configurator and product page. Tesla prices, equipment, fees, and offers can change and may vary by delivery location, so confirm the live order page for your address before comparing or placing an order.

These are not equally detailed entries: Tesla’s configurator snapshot does not provide a full specification table for every two-row configuration, so missing figures should not be inferred from a different trim. The product page presents Performance and the long-wheelbase Model Y L Premium as distinct choices. Tesla’s Model Y page and configurator are the relevant places to verify the current build and price.
Why the starting price is not the amount you pay
In one displayed base-order example, Tesla itemizes a $75 documentation fee, $2,515 destination fee, and $250 order fee, for a $42,830 purchase price before taxes and other fees. A separate configurator result shows a different destination charge and total. Treat the order summary tied to your delivery location—not a general starting price—as the basis for a budget. The quoted amount still may not include taxes, registration, or other local fees.

What is included with the base Model Y?
The displayed base build has Stealth Grey paint, 18-inch Aperture wheels, an all-black interior, five seats, and Traffic-Aware Cruise Control. The order snapshot also shows a one-month Premium Connectivity trial and a Full Self-Driving (Supervised) trial. Those are trials, not permanent subscriptions included with the vehicle price. Tesla says vehicles have access to its Supercharging network; the configurator lists a home Wall Connector separately, and installation is required. Check the exact order to see what charging equipment is supplied with that vehicle.
Tesla also states that its vehicles have active safety features including Automatic Emergency Braking and Lane Departure Avoidance. That is Tesla’s description of its equipment, not an independent safety evaluation. Tesla’s Model Y page describes the product, while the configurator shows order-specific equipment.

How the configurations differ
Rear-Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Drive
The configurator snapshot lists both standard Rear-Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Drive, but it does not provide enough specification detail to make a complete range, acceleration, or equipment comparison between those two builds. Check the live configuration for the exact drivetrain, estimated range, and included features rather than assuming the AWD model shares another trim’s figures.
Premium
Tesla lists Premium AWD at 327 miles EPA-estimated, 4.6 seconds from 0 to 60 mph, dual-motor all-wheel drive, 19- or 20-inch wheels, 76 cubic feet of cargo capacity, and seating for up to seven. Verify the seat-layout availability for the particular configuration you are pricing; “up to seven” does not mean every build has seven seats.

Performance
The Performance AWD is the acceleration-focused option in Tesla’s product-page figures: 3.3 seconds from 0 to 60 mph, 21-inch wheels, and five seats, with 306 miles EPA-estimated range. That is less displayed range than the Premium AWD figure, so weigh the performance difference against your driving and charging needs.
Model Y L Premium
The L Premium is a longer-wheelbase, three-row, six-seat Model Y rather than another seating variant of the two-row configuration. Tesla lists 332 miles EPA-estimated range, up to 89 cubic feet of cargo capacity with the middle and rear seats folded, and a 16-inch center display plus an 8-inch second-row display. Its starting price and fee-inclusive figure are shown separately above because the latter still excludes taxes and other fees.

Tesla’s product-page range figures identify the Rear-Wheel Drive’s 321 miles as EPA-estimated for the 2026 model year using EPA data as of March 25, 2026; the page lists 327 miles for Premium, 306 for Performance, and 332 for Model Y L. Range is a trim-specific estimate, not a promise of the distance every driver will achieve. Tesla’s Model Y product page is the source for the cited specifications.

There is no single best-value trim without knowing your priorities and the live price of the exact build. Premium AWD’s published specifications establish a combination of dual-motor AWD, 327 miles EPA-estimated range, acceleration, and possible seating for up to seven. The standard AWD and Premium RWD entries in the configurator snapshot do not include enough comparable specifications to calculate what each price premium buys in range or equipment. Compare the actual order summaries and confirm seating before paying extra for a feature you may not use.

- Match drivetrain, range, and acceleration to your typical trips and driving conditions.
- Confirm how many seats the exact build has and whether its cargo layout suits your household.
- Check whether wheels or other selected options change the price or specification shown.
- Separate recurring subscription costs and optional accessories from the vehicle’s purchase price.
Other costs and offers to include in a budget
Tesla’s offers page displays promotional APRs of 1.99% for specified Rear-Wheel Drive, All-Wheel Drive, and Premium vehicles, and 3.99% for Performance, subject to buyer qualification and the page’s order-date, down-payment, credit, and loan-term conditions. It also displays a Model Y L Premium launch offer that includes one year of Full Self-Driving (Supervised), Premium Connectivity, and Supercharging, plus selected free options. These are time-sensitive promotions, not guaranteed benefits. Verify current eligibility and terms on Tesla’s offers page before including them in a financing comparison.
A promotional APR can change the borrowing cost, but an advertised monthly payment depends on its assumptions, including down payment, term, and credit approval. Compare the full amount financed and total payments alongside the car’s price; do not treat a low monthly figure as the vehicle’s cost.
Home charging is another separate decision. Tesla lists a Wall Connector as optional and says installation is required; confirm which charging equipment comes with the exact vehicle and what a home installation would require. The configurator snapshot also lists optional all-weather interior liners, a parcel shelf, a center-console tray, an air mattress, and a cooler. These are accessories, not evidence that they are included in the vehicle price. Check fitment for the model year and configuration before buying an accessory. Tesla’s configurator lists the charging option and accessories.
How to compare two Model Y quotes
- Build each exact configuration for the same delivery location in Tesla’s live configurator.
- Record the vehicle price, selected options, destination and order charges, and the displayed total before taxes and other fees.
- Check the cited trim’s EPA-estimated range, drive layout, acceleration, seat count, and cargo needs against your use case.
- Add any charging equipment, installation, accessories, and local taxes or registration costs you expect to pay.
- Evaluate financing offers using their eligibility conditions, down payment, term, and total borrowing cost—not only the advertised APR or monthly payment.
The cited Tesla pages do not establish a location-specific out-the-door price, state incentive, insurance premium, electricity cost, depreciation, reliability figure, or independent total-cost-of-ownership comparison. A claim that a Model Y will cost less to own than a comparable gasoline SUV cannot be established from these prices and specifications alone.
