Nvidia’s biggest stories of 2025 were about more than new chips: they showed how AI infrastructure, shifting US export rules and consumer GPU launches intersected. This is an editorial selection, not an official ranking. The order reflects strategic scale, technology change, geopolitical exposure and consumer visibility.
What Nvidia’s 2025 financial figures show
Nvidia reports on a fiscal calendar, so its fiscal-year results should not be read as calendar-year totals. Fiscal 2025 ended January 26, 2025; fiscal 2026’s first quarter ended April 27, 2025.
| Period and measure | Nvidia-reported figure | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| Fiscal 2025 revenue | $130.5 billion; up 114% year over year | Revenue for the fiscal year ended January 26, 2025, reported in Nvidia’s Form 10-K. |
| Q1 fiscal 2026 revenue | $44.1 billion | Quarter ended April 27, 2025, reported in Nvidia’s May 28, 2025 results release. |
| Q2 fiscal 2026 revenue | $46.7 billion | Quarter ended July 27, 2025. Nvidia also reported that Blackwell Data Center revenue grew 17% sequentially in this quarter. |
These company-reported revenue figures describe Nvidia’s business, not the return an investor earned from holding its stock. They also cover different reporting periods and are not three comparable calendar-year totals.
What were Nvidia’s 10 biggest stories of 2025?
1. DeepSeek put AI efficiency and China at the center of the debate
DeepSeek’s emergence in January renewed concerns about China’s AI capabilities, the Associated Press reported. It sharpened questions about how much computing power advanced AI requires and who can develop it. That debate did not establish that DeepSeek made high-end Nvidia infrastructure unnecessary; it made assumptions about future demand and competition more visible.

2. Nvidia launched the Blackwell-based GeForce RTX 50 generation
Nvidia’s February 2025 results materials announced its RTX 50 Series gaming cards, including the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, alongside DLSS 4. The launch brought the Blackwell name from data-center systems into consumer graphics, giving PC gamers a prominent view of Nvidia’s new generation.
3. Blackwell moved from shipping systems to broader production
Nvidia’s fiscal 2025 Form 10-K said production systems began shipping in fiscal fourth quarter. In May, CEO Jensen Huang said the Blackwell NVL72 was in full-scale production across system makers and cloud providers. Those are separate company-reported milestones: initial shipments in one period and a later production update, not an independently verified count of deployed systems.

4. H20 export licensing requirements hit Nvidia’s business
Nvidia said in its fiscal 2026 first-quarter materials that the US government informed it on April 9, 2025, that a license was required for H20 exports to China, Hong Kong, Macau, D:5 countries and specified companies. In the quarter, Nvidia reported a $4.5 billion charge for excess H20 inventory and purchase obligations, and said $2.5 billion in additional H20 revenue could not ship. The Associated Press covered the wider market and policy context; its headline cited a $5.5 billion estimate, which is not the same figure as Nvidia’s reported charge.
5. Fiscal-year growth highlighted the scale of the AI infrastructure boom
The fiscal 2025 result in the table above showed how sharply Nvidia’s business had expanded. In its Form 10-K, Nvidia said data-center compute and networking drove growth, with Hopper demand accounting for significant full-year growth. Blackwell production shipments began only in fiscal fourth quarter, so the full-year growth should not be attributed solely to Blackwell.

- 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads
6. Project DIGITS proposed a personal AI supercomputer
Nvidia’s fiscal 2025 results announcement unveiled Project DIGITS, a Grace Blackwell-based personal AI supercomputer aimed at researchers, data scientists and students. The announcement made a desktop-scale system part of Nvidia’s AI-computing vision; it did not establish that the product was available or provide hands-on evidence of its capabilities.
7. The US AI Diffusion rule was set for rescission, with replacement details unresolved
Nvidia’s fiscal 2026 first-quarter Form 10-Q said the US government announced in May that it would rescind the AI Diffusion Interim Final Rule and implement a replacement. In that filing, Nvidia said the scope, timing and requirements of the replacement remained uncertain. That describes the status reported in the filing, not a definitive account of subsequent rulemaking.

8. Blackwell Ultra appeared on the production roadmap
Nvidia’s first-quarter filing expected Blackwell Ultra samples and production units in fiscal second quarter. Its later fiscal second-quarter results release said production was ramping. These were company roadmap and update statements; they do not establish an independently verified shipment count.
9. Cloud and systems partnerships broadened Nvidia’s infrastructure reach
Nvidia’s fiscal 2025 results announcement said AWS, CoreWeave, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure were bringing GB200 systems to cloud regions. The same materials described a Cisco integration involving Spectrum-X. These were announcements by Nvidia, not independent audits confirming the scale or status of each deployment.

10. Reviewers reported consumer-facing concerns around parts of the gaming lineup
In its December 2025 year-end gaming-GPU review, TechRadar discussed reported driver and hardware-specification concerns, as well as stock issues affecting parts of the Blackwell lineup. Those observations give the launch story a consumer-facing counterpoint, but the review does not establish a comprehensive defect rate or quantify industry-wide stock levels.
Quick Recap
How to read the year’s Nvidia headlines
- Separate company results from investment returns. Revenue growth indicates expansion in Nvidia’s business; it does not by itself establish what the company’s shares returned or what they may do next.
- Keep the reporting calendar straight. Fiscal-year results and fiscal-quarter releases cover periods that do not match the calendar year.
- Distinguish announcements from verified outcomes. Product plans, production updates and cloud-partner announcements are meaningful developments, but they are not interchangeable with independent deployment or availability data.
- Read export figures in context. Nvidia’s reported H20 charge and revenue it said could not ship are distinct measures, while outside estimates may use different definitions.
