The U.S. deadline to file a claim in the 23andMe data breach settlement passed on February 17, 2026. The settlement administrator says payments for approved claims were issued September 29 and 30, 2026. Listed benefits include cash of up to $10,000 for certain extraordinary claims, up to $165 for qualifying health-information claims, an estimated $100 for statutory cash claims, and five years of Privacy & Medical Shield + Genetic Monitoring. Those figures do not establish what any individual claimant was approved to receive.
How much could an eligible U.S. claimant receive?
The settlement’s public summary lists three cash benefit categories and a monitoring benefit. The cash figures are not guaranteed payments to every class member: two are maximums, one is an estimate, and eligibility depends on the claim category and its requirements.

The final settlement amount approved by the Court was $46.75 million on July 7, 2026. That is the overall settlement amount, not the amount each claimant receives. The administrator’s official U.S. settlement summary and settlement documents provide the category terms and relevant forms.
Is the 23andMe settlement deadline still open?
No. The U.S. deadline to submit a claim was February 17, 2026. The separate deadline to cure a deficient claim was June 12, 2026. Both have passed, so the public information does not support telling readers they can file a new claim now.

The settlement website reports that payments for approved claims were issued on September 29 and 30, 2026. That update does not confirm whether a particular person’s claim was approved, what amount was approved, or whether a payment reached that person.
Who was included in the U.S. settlement?
The administrator’s summary describes the class as people who were 23andMe customers between May 1 and October 1, 2023, resided in the United States during that period, and received notice from 23andMe that their personal information was compromised. The summary says the cyberattack was announced October 6, 2023, and affected personal information concerning approximately 6.4 million U.S. residents. This description alone cannot determine an individual’s class membership or claim approval.

How to check a claim or contact the administrator
- Start at the court-authorized U.S. settlement website: 23andmedatasettlement.com. Check your case-specific communications and the current status information there.
- If you need help, use the contact details listed on that site. The administrator lists an online contact form and Kroll Settlement Administration’s toll-free number, (833) 621-5792. Confirm the number on the official site before calling.
- Use the documents page for the governing paperwork. It lists the final approval order, settlement agreement, benefits plan, claim form, and deficiency cure form: official settlement documents.
The Canadian settlement administrator separately warns that its updates are sent by email, not SMS, and says messages claiming payments have started or asking for personal or banking information should be treated as suspicious. That warning is from the Canadian settlement site, not a U.S.-specific notice; it is still prudent to verify any claim-related message through the official U.S. site rather than follow an unexpected link.

There are separate proceedings with different participants, deadlines, and benefits. The Canadian settlement is not the U.S. class settlement. Its claim deadline was June 25, 2026, and has also passed. The Canadian site describes Canadian-residence eligibility, a gross settlement of US$3.25 million (approximately C$4.49 million), reimbursement of up to C$2,500 for eligible documented extraordinary expenses, and pro-rated ordinary claims. Those terms do not apply to U.S. claimants; see the Canadian settlement administrator for its own information.

A separate multistate bankruptcy settlement is also not a fund for individual consumer claimants. The Michigan Department of Attorney General said in its July 14, 2026 announcement that states had $150 million in allowed claims but could recover only $18 million because estate funds were limited. The announcement separately identifies the $46.75 million consumer class settlement for U.S. consumers who submitted claims by February 17. Its worldwide figure of approximately 6.9 million customers has a different geographic scope from the settlement site’s approximately 6.4 million U.S. residents.
