The 2026 Mazda CX-5 starts at a manufacturer-listed U.S. MSRP of $29,990 for the 2.5 S. Mazda’s January 2026 announcement said vehicles would go on sale “in the coming months,” but that was a dated forecast—not a current delivery estimate. As of October 4, 2026, check Mazda’s model page or local dealers for present availability, and budget for destination, taxes, title and other charges beyond the advertised starting price.
How much does the 2026 Mazda CX-5 cost?
Mazda North American Operations published the following U.S. starting MSRPs on January 13, 2026. The prices are before destination and handling, taxes, title and additional fees; dealers determine their own sale prices.
| Trim | Starting MSRP |
|---|---|
| CX-5 2.5 S | $29,990 |
| CX-5 2.5 S Select | $31,990 |
| CX-5 2.5 S Preferred | $34,250 |
| CX-5 2.5 S Premium | $36,900 |
| CX-5 2.5 S Premium Plus | $38,990 |
Mazda lists destination and handling at $1,595, or $1,640 in Alaska. The company says that charge was updated effective August 11, 2026. Premium paint colors are listed at $595. These are manufacturer-published figures, not a quote for a specific vehicle or a guarantee of its final transaction price. See Mazda’s pricing and packaging announcement for the stated exclusions and details.
What changes as you move up the trim range?
The trim decision is a trade-off between the starting price and the cabin, convenience and driver-assistance features you want. Mazda’s 2026 CX-5 model page highlights these distinctions:

Is the CX-5 already at dealers?
Mazda’s January 13, 2026 pricing announcement said CX-5 2.5 S models would go on sale “in the coming months.” The company’s July 2025 reveal had forecast a sale date in early 2026. Both statements are historical forecasts. The U.S. model page now presents the 2026 CX-5 with options to build, request a quote and look for nearby vehicles, but those pages do not establish nationwide inventory or stock at a particular dealer. Check with local dealers or use Mazda’s nearby-vehicle search for current availability.

What engine, drivetrain and fuel economy does the U.S. model have?
Mazda’s U.S. vehicle information lists the launch configuration with a 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder rated at 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. i-Activ all-wheel drive is standard. Mazda gives EPA-estimated fuel economy as 24 mpg city, 30 mpg highway and 26 mpg combined; actual mileage varies. These are Mazda’s published U.S. specifications, not a guarantee of an individual driver’s results.
Mazda’s July 2025 reveal described a hybrid using the company’s hybrid system and a Skyactiv-Z engine as a plan for 2027. That announcement is not evidence that a hybrid 2026 CX-5 is available.

What is new about the 2026 CX-5’s size and technology?
Mazda describes this vehicle as the CX-5’s third generation. In its July 2025 reveal, the automaker said it is 4.5 inches longer overall and in wheelbase than the predecessor, and more than half an inch wider. Mazda also described the rear cargo area as almost two inches longer and over an inch higher, with lift-in height reduced by more than half an inch. Those are Mazda’s comparisons, not independent measurements.
The available 15.6-inch touchscreen is one of the model’s technology options. Mazda says Google Built-in is complimentary for one year with the Mazda Connected Services trial. MyMazda remote functions, including remote engine start, are also described as complimentary for one year through Connected Services. How should buyers think about the advertised price?
Use the starting MSRP as a comparison point, not as the amount you should expect to pay out the door. The final cost can include Mazda’s destination and handling charge, applicable taxes and title, other fees, dealer-set pricing and any selected options or accessories. Ask the dealer for an itemized, vehicle-specific quote before comparing offers.
Mazda’s releases report more than 1.6 million CX-5 sales in the United States and 4.5 million worldwide since the model debuted in 2012. Those are cumulative totals reported by Mazda, not independently audited figures. The reviewed manufacturer information describes safety equipment but does not establish an independent safety rating for the 2026 model.
