That makes “move beyond cars” a description of a broader mobility strategy—not a claim that ALSO has replaced cars or that its vehicles suit every trip.
What is ALSO, and how is it connected to Rivian?
ALSO describes itself as an electric mobility company incubated within Rivian. Its stated focus spans driven and autonomous vehicles for consumer and commercial customers. The company’s company page explains its origins and mission; the official site presents its current products.
The “spinoff” framing needs a little care: the available company materials establish that ALSO was incubated within Rivian, but do not, by themselves, explain the legal or ownership details of a corporate separation. It is more precise to call it a Rivian-incubated company than to infer a particular corporate structure.
What does “move beyond cars” mean in ALSO’s strategy?
ALSO is pursuing smaller electric vehicles for local movement and goods transport. The idea is to offer forms of mobility beyond the conventional car, from an individual bicycle-style vehicle to a four-wheel pedal-assist vehicle that can carry people or cargo. The products differ in purpose and form factor; they are not interchangeable versions of the same vehicle.

What is the ALSO TM-B electric bike?
The TM-B is ALSO’s flagship e-bike. A Rivian article published May 4, 2026 lists navigation, lights, turn signals, anti-theft features, a touchscreen, and a USB-C battery with up to 100 miles of range. These are published product claims, not results from an independent range test or road test. The article also notes that its views and opinions are those of ALSO and do not necessarily represent Rivian’s official position.
That distinction matters when assessing what the bike may be like to own. The cited coverage supplies a feature description and a claimed maximum range, but not a like-for-like independent test against competing e-bikes. The figure “up to 100 miles” should therefore not be treated as a guaranteed distance for every rider or trip.

When was the TM-B expected to reach customers?
ALSO’s original launch plan and later delivery reporting mark different stages in the company’s timeline:
- March 26, 2025: ALSO’s launch announcement described $105 million in outside funding and an expected flagship launch in 2026, initially focused on the United States and Europe. See ALSO’s announcement.
- May 4, 2026: Rivian identified the TM-B as ALSO’s flagship e-bike and published the company’s feature and range claims.
- July 31, 2026: TechCrunch reported that $4,500 Launch Edition units were shipping from the manufacturer toward ALSO’s U.S. warehouse after delays. ALSO expected customer deliveries between August and September 2026.
The July report describes a planned delivery window, not confirmation that every buyer received a bike. It also does not establish current inventory or availability. ALSO’s site presents product build and test-spin actions, but those options and any available locations can change.

What should a prospective buyer take from the available information?
- Match the vehicle to the job. The TM-B is the bicycle-style option; the TM-Q is the four-wheel platform ALSO describes for passenger or goods movement.
- Separate product claims from verified performance. The TM-B’s listed features and “up to 100 miles” figure come from company-described material, not an independent comparison test.
- Check current price and availability directly. The $4,500 figure is the Launch Edition price reported by TechCrunch on July 31, 2026, not a guarantee of today’s price or stock.
