There is no single best mushroom coffee for everyone: products differ in coffee content, caffeine, ingredients, preparation and taste. Four Sigmatic Original and MUDWTR Coffee are coffee-based options with company-listed caffeine amounts; Everyday Dose Coffee+ is another product to compare by its current label. The available tasting notes below are attributed to the publication that made them—not presented as our own tasting. Check current labels and prices before buying, since product formulas and offers can change.
How to compare mushroom coffee brands
“Mushroom coffee” is not one standardized drink. Some products combine coffee with mushroom ingredients; others may be coffee alternatives. Compare the actual product and serving you would prepare, rather than assuming every blend has the same base or caffeine.
- Base and format: Is it coffee, an alternative, or a blend? Is it instant or prepared another way?
- Caffeine: Compare milligrams per serving, then confirm the figure on the package you are buying.
- Ingredients: Check the current panel for mushroom species, amounts, and other ingredients. A longer species list does not establish greater effectiveness.
- Taste: Look for notes from an identified taster and consider whether you prefer a stronger coffee character, less bitterness, or earthy flavors.
- Cost: Compare current cost per prepared serving at the same purchase type—one-time or subscription—and serving size.
Product pages can change, and prices and offers are not fixed in the sources cited here. Use the current official product page and package label for purchase decisions.
Brands to compare
| Brand and product | What the available source says | What to verify before buying |
|---|---|---|
| Four Sigmatic Original Mushroom Coffee | Four Sigmatic describes this as organic Arabica instant coffee with Lion’s Mane, Chaga, Cordyceps, Reishi and Turkey Tail, plus B12 and probiotics. | Everyday Dose Coffee+ | Everyday Dose presents Coffee+ as a mushroom coffee product on its official site. Its separate comparison page includes favorable claims about its own taste and competitors; treat those as brand marketing, not an independent taste test. | Current base, ingredient amounts, caffeine, serving size, preparation and price on the product label or official page. |
| MUDWTR Coffee | MUDWTR describes its coffee product as an organic Arabica coffee blend with mushrooms and L-theanine, and lists 45 mg of caffeine. | RYZE | RYZE appears in editorial and brand comparisons, but the available sources here do not provide a current official product label. | Confirm product identity, current ingredient panel, serving format, caffeine and price from an official source before comparing it. |
What published taste coverage can—and cannot—tell you
Clean Plates’ mushroom coffee taste test, updated for 2024, offers publication-specific impressions. Those notes can help narrow choices, but they are not a universal ranking or a firsthand test by this article’s author. Taste depends on the product, preparation and individual preference.

A later Mushroom Coffee Lab comparison, marked updated September 6, 2026 in the search result, says it tested and ranked products. That is the publisher’s evaluation; the available information here does not provide its detailed methodology or enough product-level tasting notes to reproduce its rankings.
For a useful tasting comparison, seek a review that identifies the products and flavors sampled, preparation instructions, serving temperature, additions, tasters and criteria—such as coffee-likeness, bitterness, earthiness, sweetness, texture and aftertaste. Without those details, a taste verdict is difficult to apply to your own cup.

How to choose for your priorities
If coffee flavor and convenience matter most
Start with coffee-based products and compare their preparation formats. Four Sigmatic describes Original as instant Arabica coffee; MUDWTR describes its Coffee product as an Arabica blend. Whether either tastes more like your usual coffee is a matter for attributed tasting notes or your own trial, not something ingredient lists establish.
If caffeine is the deciding factor
The cited company pages list around 50 mg per serving for Four Sigmatic Original and 45 mg for MUDWTR Coffee. Those are brand-reported figures, not independently verified measurements; serving definitions and formulas may change. Check the label for the package in hand, and do not infer caffeine content for Everyday Dose or RYZE from the information above.

If ingredient transparency matters
Read the current label for named mushroom species and stated amounts, and note whether the company identifies the mushroom material. Ingredient presence alone does not show that a finished beverage delivers a health benefit. Brand pages may make claims about focus, stress, immunity or gut health, but the sources cited here do not establish those outcomes for the finished drinks.
If value matters
Calculate the current price per prepared serving using the actual package size and serving directions. Compare one-time purchase with one-time purchase, or subscription with subscription; promotional prices and different serving sizes can make headline prices misleading. Current comparable prices are not established here, so there is no supported value winner.
Bottom line
Choose by the feature you actually value: coffee base and format, verified caffeine per serving, clear current ingredient disclosure, documented taste notes, or current cost per cup. The available evidence supports a comparison, not a universal best brand. Treat manufacturer ingredient and caffeine statements as label claims to confirm, and treat published taste rankings as the named publisher’s judgment rather than a promise about your own cup.
