The report that Frontier Airlines would suspend more than 40 routes indefinitely dates to December 15, 2024—not October 2026. It described a mix of flights that had already stopped and routes scheduled to leave the airline’s timetable in January or February 2025. It did not establish that every route was permanently canceled, or whether any particular city pair operates today.
What did the 2024 Frontier route report say?
The Bulkhead Seat reported on December 15, 2024, that Frontier had removed or planned to remove more than 40 routes. Its article reproduced a route analyst’s list covering flights from Raleigh–Durham (RDU), Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Atlanta (ATL), Cleveland (CLE), Ontario, California (ONT), Denver (DEN), Cincinnati (CVG), Philadelphia (PHL), and Charlotte (CLT). Examples included RDU–Buffalo (BUF), DFW–San Juan (SJU), ATL–Minneapolis (MSP), CLE–Charlotte (CLT), ONT–Portland (PDX), DEN–New York LaGuardia (LGA), CVG–Philadelphia (PHL), PHL–Detroit (DTW), and CLT–San Juan (SJU). The report contains the full historical list and route-specific timing: The Bulkhead Seat’s December 15, 2024 report.
According to that article, some flights had already stopped while others were due to leave the schedule in January or February 2025. The schedule then extended only to April 21, and the report noted that some routes might return when Frontier extended its timetable. “Indefinitely” therefore described an uncertain schedule status at that time; it did not demonstrate permanent cancellation.
Is Frontier still flying your route?
The historical list cannot answer whether Frontier flies a particular city pair on a specific date in October 2026. A general destinations or booking page is not proof that a particular route is operating. Search Frontier’s current booking site for your origin, destination, and travel dates, and check your booking directly if you already have a ticket. Availability can vary by date, so verify the exact itinerary rather than relying on the old route list.

What should you do if your trip may be affected?
- Check your reservation. Look for a schedule-change notice and confirm the flight status and itinerary for your travel date through Frontier’s booking or reservation channels.
- Search the exact city pair and dates. If the flight no longer appears, check whether a different date is available; do not assume the route has been permanently removed based on the 2024 report.
- Compare replacement options before changing plans. Consider nonstop flights, acceptable connections, nearby airports, and the full trip cost. Current alternatives and prices depend on the route and dates and are not established by the historical report.
- Contact the airline about your ticket. If Frontier has changed or canceled your booked flight, use the options and instructions tied to your reservation to find out what arrangements are available for your case.
What the headline does—and does not—establish
- The “40+ routes” figure is the historical count reported by The Bulkhead Seat in December 2024, not a current measure of Frontier’s network.
- The cuts involved multiple origins, including RDU, DFW, ATL, CLE, ONT, DEN, CVG, PHL, and CLT.
- The report described a combination of routes already ended and routes due to leave the schedule in January or February 2025.
- The report allowed that some routes might return, so “indefinitely” was not proof that every listed route would remain canceled.
- Whether a specific route operates now must be checked for the relevant travel dates.
