How is the paper structured?
Paper 01 has 60 multiple-choice items and a time limit of 1 hour 15 minutes, as stated in both the reproduced examination instructions and CXC’s syllabus. The 2019 paper draws questions from across those areas, including organizational structure and leadership, communication, employee benefits, business plans and feasibility studies, entrepreneurial risk and regulation, contracts, capital, industries and production, regional and international trade, price controls, and standards of living. Its later items also ask candidates to apply concepts, such as identifying price control or the organization relevant to a trade dispute.
This is a sample from one examination, not a guarantee of the topics or weighting in another sitting. The revised syllabus was effective for teaching from September 2017 and for examinations from May/June 2019; consult the syllabus for the broader curriculum rather than revising only the subjects that appeared on this paper. How to use the paper for timed revision
- Set the exam conditions. Allow 75 minutes for all 60 items and practise selecting one best answer from four options.
- Move past difficult questions. The examination instructions say, “If you cannot answer an item, go on to the next one. You may return to that item later.” Mark or note questions to revisit, then continue with items you can answer.
- Read every option before choosing. Compare the choices with the wording of the question; select the best fit, not merely a statement that sounds generally correct.
- Review your answer sheet carefully. If changing an answer, erase the original response fully, as the printed directions require. Leave time to return to marked items and check that each selected answer is clearly recorded.
- Use the syllabus to fill gaps. After practice, identify the subject area behind missed questions and revise that area in the syllabus. Do not infer that a topic is unimportant simply because it does not appear in this sitting.
Can you get an official answer key?
The consulted sources do not establish an authoritative CXC answer key for this exact sitting. The paper copy is third-party hosted, and an answer list found elsewhere should not be described as official unless CXC identifies it as such. For useful practice, prioritize resources that follow the relevant syllabus, explain why answers are correct, offer authentic timed multiple-choice work, and identify their edition and coverage.
