Emirates Skywards has four tiers: Blue, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Silver requires 25,000 Tier Miles or 25 qualifying flights; Gold requires 50,000 Tier Miles or 50 qualifying flights; and Platinum requires 150,000 Tier Miles plus at least one qualifying Business or First Class flight. Higher tiers add bonus Miles and airport services, but each benefit has conditions.

How to qualify for a higher tier
Use Tier Miles, not redeemable Skywards Miles
Tier Miles determine status. Redeemable Skywards Miles are the currency members use toward rewards; they do not, by themselves, qualify a member for a higher tier. Emirates says Tier Miles are earned mainly on Emirates and flydubai flights and certain codeshare flights marketed by Emirates. The amount depends on factors including fare, route and cabin. Silver and Gold have a flight-count alternative
Under Emirates’ program rules, Silver can be reached or retained with 25,000 Tier Miles or 25 qualifying flights; Gold uses 50,000 Tier Miles or 50 qualifying flights. Certain flights do not count toward the flight alternative, including tickets purchased using Cash + Miles or flights granted as rewards. Check the current rules for the full eligibility conditions.

Platinum requires a qualifying premium-cabin flight
Platinum requires 150,000 Tier Miles and at least one qualifying Business or First Class flight. The program rules exclude certain reward and Cash + Miles premium-cabin flights from satisfying this flight condition. Meeting the Tier Miles figure alone is not sufficient.
How status reviews and retention work
Emirates assesses tier eligibility as Tier Miles accrue, while retention reviews recur on a 12-month cycle. The exact review date and membership period are individual; check the logged-in Skywards account for your status and dates. If you do not meet the applicable requirements, the program rules allow a downgrade. Tier Miles above a threshold do not carry forward to the next membership period, and Emirates reserves the right to change membership requirements.

How to decide whether to pursue a higher tier
Compare the qualification route you are likely to meet with the benefits you will actually use. For instance, a member who frequently uses Dubai airport facilities may value lounge access differently from someone who mainly values the bonus Miles. Consider how often you fly eligible routes and cabins, whether you can meet the requirement during the review period, and the conditions or geography attached to each benefit. Emirates’ published information does not establish a monetary value for a tier that applies to every traveler.
Emirates may change thresholds, terms and benefits. Confirm current eligibility and benefit conditions on its membership tiers page and program rules before planning around a particular tier.
