Amazon’s inaugural U.S. Book Sale ran May 15–20, 2024, and is over. Amazon advertised discounts on print books and Kindle eBooks, alongside audiobook and Kindle Unlimited offers; those historical maximum discounts do not show what any title costs now. Amazon announced another sale for 2025, but the available announcements do not confirm a dedicated 2026 event.
What was the Amazon Book Sale?
Amazon introduced the event as a six-day U.S. shopping sale for readers, with deals on thousands of books across genres. The May 8, 2024 announcement said new deals would appear during the sale across print books, eBooks, Kindle Unlimited, Audible and other offers. Readers could receive print books or download eBooks and audiobooks. Amazon’s 2024 announcement described it as offering deals on a wide selection of books.
Amazon said the selection included books that had topped Amazon Charts, titles trending on #BookTok and #Bookstagram, best sellers, award winners, and recommendations from Amazon Books Editors. These were categories Amazon said it included, not a guarantee that a particular title was discounted.
When did it run, and is it live now?
The inaugural sale ran May 15 through May 20, 2024. Amazon’s May 8 announcement also said early deals would start before the event. The 2024 dates have passed, so that sale is not live now.

Amazon later announced a 2025 edition running April 23–28. It described that event as available in the U.S., Canada, the UK, Belgium, Poland, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and South Africa. That announcement confirms a later edition, but does not establish a 2026 schedule. Amazon’s 2025 sale announcement and 2026 Prime Day announcement do not verify a dedicated 2026 Amazon Book Sale.
What discounts did Amazon advertise?
For the 2024 event, Amazon advertised up to 50% off print best sellers and up to 80% off Kindle Books. These were maximum advertised discounts for that historical sale, not typical savings or guarantees about any particular book. The announcement does not establish a current price, and the figures were not independently validated.
For 2025, Amazon advertised up to 80% off thousands of eBooks and up to 65% off hundreds of print books. Those figures applied to the 2025 announcement; they are not current offers or 2024 terms.
