Bank of America named George Sherman chief technology officer for its Global Banking and Markets and Global Commercial Banking businesses, SecurityWeek reported on June 8, 2010. Sherman had previously held the title of chief IT risk and security officer at Morgan Stanley; the Bank of America appointment was to a business-unit technology leadership role, not a new security-officer post.

Before the Bank of America appointment, Sherman had held several senior technology positions at Morgan Stanley, including managing director and CTO of its Americas enterprise infrastructure organization, chief IT risk and security officer, and IT chief operating officer. His security title was one part of a broader technology career, while his new role focused on technology leadership for two Bank of America businesses.
