The cybersecurity company said it would use the funding to advance its platform, expand its AI-agent capabilities, and grow its customer base. Terra later announced a $30 million Series A in September 2025, bringing its stated total funding to $38 million.
What Terra announced in its seed round
Terra’s April 22, 2025 announcement named SYN Ventures and FXP Ventures as seed-round leads. Underscore VC and angel investors also participated, including former Google CISO Gerhard Eschelbeck, Talon Security founders Ofer Ben-Noon and Ohad Bobrov, Travis McPeak, and Itamar Friedman. Terra said the capital would support platform development, expanded agent capabilities, and customer growth. Terra’s announcement
The reported amount differs across two contemporaneous releases: Terra’s April 22 announcement gives $8 million, while a company-distributed GlobeNewswire release dated April 21 reports $7.5 million. SecurityWeek also reported the $8 million headline. The $8 million figure is therefore the amount in Terra’s April 22 announcement, but the discrepancy is worth noting when precise transaction sizing matters. GlobeNewswire’s April 21 release
What the funding was intended to support
At the time of the seed announcement, Terra described a service for continuous web application penetration testing. It said the system used dozens of fine-tuned agents tailored to a customer’s environment and business context, with experts guiding tests through a human-in-the-loop process. Those are Terra’s descriptions of its product, not independently verified performance findings. The company also said it planned to add agentic red teaming and broaden its work into network security. CEO and co-founder Shahar Peled described the company’s ambition as bringing “accuracy, efficiency, business context, and continuous pen testing via agentic AI” to penetration testing and ethical hacking. That statement reflects the CEO’s view of the product’s potential, rather than an independently established result.
How Terra’s product scope has changed
Terra’s current website describes its platform as providing continuous agentic penetration testing across web applications, AI systems, and network infrastructure, with human oversight at critical decision points. It also promotes audit-ready reporting and shorter testing cycles. These are vendor claims; the available material does not independently establish comparative efficacy or validate the claimed outcomes. Terra’s platform website
One timing claim on the site compares traditional penetration testing timelines of 4–6 weeks with 2–4 hours using Terra. This is Terra’s own comparison, accessed October 4, 2026; the website material does not provide an independent methodology or validation for those figures. Terra’s platform website
Terra said in July 2026 that continuous internal network penetration testing was in preview with select design partners. That announcement supports describing the capability as a limited preview, not as generally available. Terra’s July 2026 announcement

The seed financing is a business investment in a cybersecurity company, not evidence that its platform outperforms conventional testing or competing services. The company’s descriptions indicate a shift from an initial focus on web applications toward a broader platform spanning AI systems and network infrastructure. They do not, by themselves, establish the accuracy of findings, the rate of false positives, customer outcomes, or whether continuous automated testing can replace any particular manual engagement.
For organizations assessing agentic penetration testing, the useful questions are practical: which systems are in scope, how frequently tests run, what actions require human review, how findings are validated, what evidence appears in reports, and what operational or deployment constraints apply. The seed announcement explains Terra’s intended product direction and financing, but does not provide independent, like-for-like comparative data to answer those questions.
