The “up to $500” figure was the past maximum for some documented claims—not a guaranteed payment. If you already filed, use the official administrator’s site to check your claim or, if you have an issued but uncashed settlement check, request a reissue.
Can you still file a Walmart settlement claim?
No. The filing deadline was June 5, 2024. The court-approved settlement website says the deadline has passed and new claim forms will be rejected without further notice. The article title’s “Only 2 Days” warning is obsolete.
People who filed before the deadline should use the administrator’s official site and their claim-specific instructions for status or payment questions. The site says approved claimant payments had been distributed as of December 2025, but some first payments failed. For claimants who timely updated payment information, the administrator said a second attempt was expected to continue into 2026. Its public update does not establish whether every reattempt has now been completed.
Who was covered by the settlement?
The case, Kukorinis v. Walmart Inc., No. 8:22-cv-02402-VMC-TGW, was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division. The settlement addressed allegations that customers paid more than the lowest in-store advertised price for certain weighted goods and bagged citrus bought in person at Walmart.

The class period ran from October 19, 2018, through January 19, 2024. It covered qualifying purchases at Walmart retail stores, supercenters, and neighborhood markets in the United States and Puerto Rico. Covered products included certain meat, poultry, pork, and seafood sold by weight, as well as certain organic oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, and navel oranges sold in bulk mesh or plastic bags.
Not every meat, seafood, or citrus purchase qualified. The settlement site provides product descriptions and searchable UPC lists. For weighted goods, only the first eight UPC digits match the numbers printed on products or receipts; check the official list for the specific product.

What did “up to $500” mean?
The $45 million figure was the proposed settlement’s overall class fund, not an individual award. Under the historical claim terms reported by the Associated Press in April 2024, amounts depended on whether a claimant had purchase documentation:

How can you check an existing claim or an uncashed check?
Start at the official settlement website and use its administrator contact or claimant-specific payment tools. The check reissue portal is for a narrower situation: an initial settlement check was issued, but remains uncashed. It requires a Claimant ID and Confirmation Code. It cannot recover a payment for someone who never filed or whose claim was rejected.
Follow the administrator’s current account-specific instructions for payment status. The public update does not confirm the outcome of every failed-payment reattempt, so a claimant may need to contact the administrator directly.

What happened if a class member did nothing?
The administrator says people who did nothing received no payment. Unless they opted out by the May 22, 2024 deadline, they gave up the right to sue, continue to sue, or participate in another lawsuit against Walmart over the legal claims resolved by the settlement. Those deadlines have passed.
How to avoid settlement-payment scams
The administrator warns that social-media ads and surveys offering gift cards are not run by the court-approved claims administrator. It also says it will never ask claimants to send money to receive a settlement payment. Use the official settlement site rather than responding to unrelated ads or paying anyone who promises to release funds.
