Vector Informatik announced in January 2018 that it had acquired Timing-Architects Embedded Systems GmbH, a company behind the TA Tool Suite for analyzing and optimizing how real-time software is distributed across multicore electronic control units (ECUs). Vector had held a 49% stake since 2016. The deal brought the tool and its development team further into Vector’s AUTOSAR and ECU-software business, while later registry information reports that Timing-Architects was legally merged into Vector Informatik GmbH in 2023.
How the relationship developed
The milestones are reported differently by Vector’s acquisition announcement and its company history, so they are best read as separate steps rather than one date for a single transaction.
- 2016: Vector acquired a 49% stake in Timing-Architects, according to its January 2018 announcement. The companies had worked together for several years before the announcement. Vector’s January 17, 2018 announcement
- 2017: Vector’s company history records Timing-Architects becoming part of the Vector Group. Vector company history
- January 17, 2018: Vector announced that it had acquired Timing-Architects Embedded Systems GmbH. It said the team then comprised nearly 40 people. Vector’s announcement
- 2022–2023: A commercial registry aggregation reports a merger agreement dated December 14, 2022, and a register update dated March 1, 2023, for the merger of Timing-Architects Embedded Systems GmbH into Vector Informatik GmbH. What the TA Tool Suite was designed to do
Modern vehicle applications can demand more computing capacity, and multicore processors let an ECU run software across several processor cores. But distributing time-critical application software across cores is an engineering problem: communication between cores can affect runtime, so assigning software to cores is not simply a matter of splitting work evenly.
Vector described the TA Tool Suite as software for analyzing and optimizing the distribution of software across networks of multicore ECUs. The aim was to help engineers reason about time-critical execution and the effects of multicore communication. These are claims in Vector’s company announcement, not independently reported performance-test results.

What Vector said it planned next
Vector said the companies’ earlier work had helped align the TA Tool Suite with MICROSAR, Vector’s multicore-capable AUTOSAR basic software, and that Vector had marketed the suite internationally. In 2018, Vector said the Timing-Architects team would continue developing the product, with planned integration into DaVinci Configurator Pro and PREEvision. It also said the team would work on accelerating software integration on high-performance real-time platforms.
Those statements describe Vector’s plans at the time of the acquisition announcement. They do not establish that the integrations were completed or describe the current product roadmap. Vector’s managing director Thomas Beck called TA an “ideal support tool for multi-core systems” and said the integration would give ECU developers and vehicle manufacturers a comprehensive solution from one source; this was Vector’s stated view in 2018, not an independent assessment. What the acquisition means for the product today
The available company and registry information establishes the historical acquisition and later reported legal merger, but does not establish the TA Tool Suite’s current availability, licensing, support arrangements, compatibility, or commercial relationship with Vector’s other tools. Anyone evaluating it for a present-day engineering project should confirm those points with current Vector product documentation or Vector directly rather than relying on the 2018 integration plans.
