In a February 2025 feature, Make: followed founders Zach Dive, Aaron Li, and Avi Peltz as they prepared for Y Combinator’s Winter 2025 Demo Day. The story offers a snapshot of the product and team at that time—not confirmation of AdamCAD’s current availability, features, or price.
What AdamCAD was designed to do
The Adam team described its product to Make: as “AI Powered CAD for mechanical design” and a “Text to CAD editor.” Their pitch was that a maker could enter a prompt in a web app and get a parametric CAD file to work on and potentially 3D print. That editable-file step matters: the intended process was not simply generating a picture of an object, but creating a model that could be refined as a design.
Make: illustrated the workflow with a Raspberry Pi case and a walkthrough of a design being developed. The article framed AdamCAD as an attempt to make mechanical CAD more approachable, while retaining a role for human refinement before fabrication.
From prompt to a printable object
- Describe the object. The user enters a prompt in AdamCAD’s web application.
- Generate a parametric model. The application returns a CAD file intended for further design work.
- Inspect and refine it. The model may need adjustments before it is suitable for printing; generated geometry should not be assumed to be production-ready.
- Prepare the print. The final model must work as a physical object and be usable in a 3D-printing workflow.
Make: highlighted constraints that distinguish a printable model from a plausible-looking shape. Geometry needs to be watertight, should not contain soap-bubble-thin surfaces, and must avoid forms that a printer cannot handle reliably. The feature does not establish that every prompt yields a printable result or specify a particular printer, slicer, or filament.

The founders and the YC timeline
Make: identified the AdamCAD team as Zach Dive, Aaron Li, and Avi Peltz, and associated the project with UC Berkeley’s Jacob Institute for Design Innovation. Its February 20, 2025, article reported that the team had been accepted into Y Combinator’s Winter 2025 batch and was preparing for a Demo Day expected in March. Those details describe the team’s status when the feature was published; they do not establish its later accelerator participation or company status.
What the 2025 article reported about price and access
Make: reported that a basic subscription started at $5.99 per month and that initial access was available to the first 10,000 trial users. Both are historical figures from the February 2025 article. They should not be treated as current pricing, a current signup limit, or proof that the product is still open to new users.

The article documents AdamCAD’s stated concept and a sample design workflow, but it does not provide independent performance testing, comparative results against other CAD tools, or evidence that generated designs print successfully across machines. It also does not establish current product availability, feature set, pricing, user limits, or referral terms. Readers evaluating the product today would need current information from AdamCAD itself before relying on the 2025 description.
