The FDA says to follow those protocols first and consider an anti-choking suction device only if they are unsuccessful; using a device first could delay critical action. The FDA materials reviewed do not establish that ResQVac is authorized for marketing in the United States or independently substantiate its performance claims.
What the FDA recommends before using a suction device
The FDA recommends established choking-rescue protocols approved by the American Red Cross and American Heart Association before turning to an anti-choking device. It describes suction devices as a second option if standard protocols are unsuccessful. The FDA warns: “Consumers, parents, caregivers, and health care providers should be aware that using an anti-choking device before established protocols could delay critical life-saving action.” This statement appears in the FDA safety communication updated March 4, 2026: FDA safety communication on choking rescue protocols.
The FDA says established protocols have a high success rate and can be carried out immediately without a device. A device may require unpacking or assembly, which can cost time. If someone is choking, follow the appropriate established rescue protocol rather than pausing to find or set up a device.
What ResQVac is—and what its seller claims
ResQVac’s seller describes it as a manual suction device supplied with two mask sizes. The seller’s instructions say to attach the appropriate mask, seal it over the nose and mouth, push the handle down, then pull it up without breaking the seal. These are seller-provided product details, not a substitute for emergency training or professional guidance. The seller also advertises clinical testing, customer-review totals and discounts; those are commercial claims, and the FDA materials reviewed do not independently verify them. See the ResQVac seller page.

Is ResQVac FDA approved or authorized?
We could not verify FDA authorization for ResQVac in the FDA materials reviewed. The FDA’s March 4, 2026 communication says one device in this category was authorized for marketing and distribution in the United States. The related FDA De Novo record identifies that device as LifeVac, under De Novo DEN250012, with a decision date of March 4, 2026: FDA De Novo record for LifeVac.
The FDA classification for suction anti-choking devices describes them as a second-line treatment for complete airway obstruction after basic life-support choking protocols have been unsuccessful. That category definition does not establish that ResQVac itself is authorized. Registration or device listing, where applicable, should not be confused with FDA authorization: check the exact make and model in relevant FDA authorization records rather than relying on broad marketing language. The classification is available at FDA’s product classification for suction anti-choking devices.

What is known about risks and effectiveness
The FDA reports category-level problems associated with anti-choking devices, including failure to resolve a choking incident, bruising around the face, lips or mouth, and scratches in the back of the throat. These cautions concern the device category; they are not ResQVac-specific findings. The FDA communication does not provide a numeric success rate to quote, and the sources reviewed establish no independently validated ResQVac-specific outcome statistic.
That distinction matters when assessing online reviews. Testimonials and seller-promoted review counts may describe individual customer experiences, but they do not establish clinical effectiveness. The available FDA records and seller page reviewed here do not independently establish ResQVac’s performance claims.

How to make a sensible buying decision
For a product intended for a medical emergency, weigh more than price or star ratings. Before purchasing any suction anti-choking device, check:
- Exact regulatory status: Search FDA materials for the exact make and model. Do not treat registration or listing as authorization.
- Intended role: FDA guidance puts suction devices after established choking protocols, not in place of them.
- Evidence quality: Separate independent clinical evidence and regulator review from seller claims and testimonials.
- Readiness: Understand the instructions and mask fit, and account for packaging and setup. Learn the established protocol first.
- Purchase terms: Confirm who is selling the product, what the package includes, the current price and the return terms. Offers and seller details can change.
On the evidence available here, ResQVac’s seller claims and product description are not enough to establish that it works or that it has FDA authorization. A purchase decision should not displace training in established choking-rescue protocols or delay using them.
